I have been brushing him ( in sections) each day, and the brushes are always full. If this is a normal healthy occurrence how often do Sheepies drop their fur? Thanks, peg & pup howie |

Losing hair in clumps could be a symptom of a thryoid problem. A blood test by the vet can tell. My dog was "borderline low" but I put him on the medication and he is a totally differnt dog. Back to his fun, happy self. If its the thryoid, don't panic. The remedy is simple. Just a pill every day - whatever the doseage is prescribed. And the pills are not expensive either. |
Interesting. Winston has been leaving quite a few chunks of hair around the house lately. We have new carpeting and I see it all around now. I was wondering if it was a seasonal thing or that I just never noticed it with the old carpeting. He's going to the groomers on Friday and I was going to ask her. I never thought of it possibly being a medical problem. Hmmm.... something new to consider. |

Sometimes I think we notice it on carpet more just because of the increased static factor in the winter. It tends to grab together and stay there more. We got rid of the carpet and now all the hair winds up in shitzu sized tumbleweeds in the corners that get cleaned out once every 3 or 4 months. It's all hidden behind furniture so I don't even notice them until they're huge... and I'm a lousy housekeeper, too. |
Any chance Howie has been itchy? When Oliver had his staph infection I noticed more hair around the house. They pull it out as they itch. |
