organic/free range/cruelty free treats

Does anyone buy any organic, free range, cruelty free treats for their pups? As a vegetarian/animal welfare enthusiast I have a hard time buying bones, rawhides and most treats for my dogs. My husband ends up getting them gross pig ears or bones, so I would like to meet him halfway.

Right now we buy peanut butter or veggie treats and sweet potato rawhides. I would like to venture out and get a bit more variety and find something that will keep my dogs busier than the rawhides that Rudie and Walter practically swallow whole.

I was looking at the naturally shed deer antlers, anyone use those?

What else? Ideas please!

yes heather,
know alot of lg breed owners who give their dogs antlers and they luv 'em.
This is the place I got my cage-free treats. I like their veggie treats as well.
A little pricey but its worth it..IMHO

I prefer my treats with cruelty...? :lmt:
I sometimes munch on my treats while mumbling "pardon me" just to be nice
I actually make the sweet potato treats myself. You can get a cheap food dehydrator for like $25 and then you slice up the potatoes and dry them out. In the long run, it's cheaper than the tiny bags of sweet potato treats (which one of my dogs could easily eat in one sitting). I've tossed other veggies in there before and leftover meat that James didn't eat. It's amazing what you can dry out.

I've gotten these too! Walter seems to really like them and they are available at the pet supply chain stores so I can pick them up easily if needed.

This is actually a really good idea. I'm definitely going to go this route for teh sweet potato chews. Anything else you can think of that is a little more raw hide-esque?

We love bagel bones too, but Walter tears right through em.
I make the sweet potato treats by slicing either in rounds or in wedges, stick in a 250 degree oven for 2-3 hours, let cool and they love them. We also made them homemade dog biscuits for Christmas, love those also. Otherwise I mainly get treats that are made in America and try for the healthiest that I can.
