I have always switched from puppy to adult food at a year. |
I've tried to hold out to a year, but often do take them off eariler as the puppy food starting causing problems. If you can get to a year, great. Maybe just reducing the % puppy food mixed with adult for several more months....? Compare the ingredients, maybe there's something in the puppy food not in adult food and maybe source of problems. |
I'd say that can vary a bit, especially as all brands of foods and their puppy and adult rations can be different, and have a bearing on that. Generally, I switch by at least 9 months. But I also have been known to add in puppy food to adult rations when I want some of the characteristics of them for specific situations. I'm a huge label reader and mix and match stuff to suit the needs of my dogs. |
