The way I see it every time I respond, by saying quiet, or using a growly NO it would be giving attention. Since I am returning to the room...if I use water it doesn't seem to work. A shaker can doesn't have an effect for more than a second. So far completely ignoring them eventually makes them stop...but it takes forever. If I do more of that, will their response time shorten, and can they quiet down faster. |

Ignoring is the best course of action. The more consistent you are the faster it will work. Don't forget to give praise right when they stop whining and at random times when they aren't whining to reinforce the quiet. |
It's a separation thing. Do not give the mattention because the ywill always do it. Start slow: Leave for a minute then come back, then longer and longer times away. Once Pooh finally realized that we always came back, he stopped the whining an dcrying. He did it the first few weeks, and now, can't wait for us to leave in the morning so he can get some rest! |
Thanks, I took your suggestions and it's working. It's still happening but not all day anymore. I'll keep working on it. |
