The owner of Zeus (Gripenfelter) removed the original thread from the Camaro board so as not to interfere with any legal proceedings. I quickly asked Ron to delete the thread here, which he did (thanks Ron). A new thread was started on the Camaro board regarding Zeus and Grip has replied many times in that thread. He doesn't mind giving updates on the situation but he has asked people to refrain from talking about the events that led to Zeus' demise. Due to obvious reasons, he can't share everything about this horrific situation right now but I'm sure he will when he can. I will post a link to the new thread on the other board but I ask all here to not speak about the events leading up to Zeus' demise. http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=786781 If anyone has a specific question, please PM me. In the meantime, let's all say a prayer for Zeus and his devestated family. May they achieve justice and peace very soon. |

This is Grip's latest update: Quote: Spoke with the lawyer. Looks very promising but I can't share any details until this gets rolling. |
Many people on the other board wanted to chip in for a legal fund for Grip. He appreciated the thought but he wouldn't feel right taking someone else's money. So then someone mentioned donating money to an ASPCA, Humane Association, or rescue in Zeus' name. Grip thought that was a good idea and he will be contacting the Canadian Malamute Rescue. Quote: Today is my first day back at work. Having a really hard time. Word of his death spread like wild fire. Everyone knows. Customers at my wife's store have offered their "illegal services". She deals with a lot gang members that buy jewellery. She is very very angry and mad at me for not agreeing to do something illegal and harmful to him. Quote: I've contacted the Canadian Malamute Rescue. They will post a notice on their site letting people know how they can make a donation in his memory. I'll post the link once it's up. |
Zeus' necropsy report is in. It's not pretty. Quote: Necropsy report is complete. Broken snout. Brain hemmorage. Cracked skull. 3 fractured vertebrae. I am so mad. The perpetrator needs to hang!! |
I agree, I just get livid when I hear of anything like this. |
Quote: Everyone in my family cries everyday. Zeus's memorial site is up |
I don't know the story of Zeua but from what I'm reading it doesn't sound good. I'm glad they caught whoever did what they did to him. After reading the little I did, I'm almost glad I don't know the entire story...Zeus, you are in my prayers and hope you are now happy, free from fear and pain at the rainbow bridge.... |

I hope that they're able to get success on the civil side. I am not a lawyer but even though the dog is property, I'd be trying to sue under such theories as "intentional infliction of emotional distress" to the family and "malicious destruction" and whatever else my vicious bulldog lawyer and I could come up with. Certainly vet bills and the nominal replacement cost should be a consequence of his tortious actions. I wonder what a creative barrister would come up with. I also wonder if this guy has homeowners insurance and if he is therefore covered under a personal liability policy. |
I just read through the whole thread and the one thing I'm not clear on, and it doesn't seem to be clarified through the additional questions asked by the Camaro board members: did the dog come from inside the house when the guy stuck his foot in or was the dog already running loose outside? |
