You can't. They are prewired to respond to movement. MO used to chase bird shadows across the yard.......for years. She still chases smoke shadows when we burn the fields. |
This sounds like an obsessive-compulsive behavior. Oscar has a bit of OCD, and his would manifest itself in incessant licking. He would lick his front legs, the carpet, our legs, etc. Basically, I redirected his behavior to something more positive. If he was licking, I would tell him "no", and "stop", and then get him to play with a toy, or do some basic obedience work with treats. The licking decreased significantly, and now he only does it occasionally, to where I tell him "no" and "stop", and he does. Does your pup get alot of exercise, like a long walk daily, or runs at the dog park? Sometimes that can help too, as it might help a dog burn off energy and anxiety. Laurie and Oscar |
