Is there some deeper meaning?

I'll have to see if I can get a photo of it, but Rudy frequently sits with his front paws bent backwards and tucked under him. It's kind of like he bends them at the "wrists" and his toes touch the backs of his "elbows." It looks weird, having his front legs folded back like that. It's a frequent position for him, and he'll often put his head on them and fall asleep that way. I've never had a sheepie who likes to curl up like that.

Is it a sign of insecurity? Nervousness? Stress? Or is it something to do with calmness? Being zen? Is it a learned behaviour? Is it a way to tuck in and protect his feet from imaginary intruders in the night (maybe ninjas)?

Or am I completely overthinking this, and he's just weird? :cow:

Chewie does it all the time. Especially when trying to hide his toes during grooming, but it occurs at random times. I have a new picture I'll upload, but let me dig in my album here. I know there's at least one!
Super fast approval - here is a picture from Nov 7th, the day Chewie got his CD title.

His cute little friend is Hilda from just over the WI border - she is a UDX titled OES - and Chewie loves her!

Tiggy doesnt do this but Rastus does all the time.
To me it just looks like it comfortable. Kind of like humans crossing their legs.
:clappurple: Summer does this as well, particularly if I ask her if she is chewing her paws! She tucks her paws under looks at me as if to say

"Me, Mum? Oh No Mum, not me Mum? I havent even got any paws! Look they have gone!" :yay:
Sunny curls her left paw under, abut leaves the right out. I always think she looks like a lion when she's doing it, it's just how I imagine lion's laying down. But I usually just call her stumpy when she does it. Speaking of looking like a lion, she sometimes even crosses one paw over the other, which is another way I picture lions laying down. I guess she's just our little old english lioness.
My female Bella does this as well. I can't imagine its comfortable but she sits/lays down like this all the time...if it means something, let me know!

She also does the leg sticking out thing...laying down, one hind leg stretched out behind her...also doesn't look too comfy for me but I guess it is! Both my male does it too...Maybe the doggy version of yoga?
Jenny does this all the time.
ditto chiquita is known to do this as well.

My theory has been that she does it to avoid grooming OR when she is cold. I feel like I see this more when she has been out in the cold and seems to want to warm up.
