Baking soda might owrk some. But if it got to the padding & the floor underneath about the only thing you can do is have a cleaning person come in & shoot "odor eliminator" into the carpet & padding. |
I have always rented a steam cleaner from the grocery store. Instead of using rug shampoo I use water and vinegar. The carpet comes up bright and loses the smell. Then there is no shampoo left in the carpet to attract dirt. I have a spray bottle with water and vinegar mixture that I used when howie had a few accidents. Good luck, peg |
Carpet cleaners are not going to get down to the padding. You'll have to remove that section, just cut three sides, fold back the fourth and sniff the padding. If it's bad, then go to a closet or some "invisible area" and cut a matching pad patch and put it where the sticky was. (you can also do that with carpet patches) Also sniff the underfloor. If the pee got thru the pad to the subfloor, you'll have to address that. Wash, sniff. If still bad, you'll have to seal it with Kilz or other similar type encapsulting paint. If it's hardwood............well..........those boards need replacing.....someday. In the mean time, use the Kilz. Double sided tape holds everything back in place |
Nature's Miracle sells a great product for cleaning odors. Found in PetCo and other stores. Also, a nadheld steam cleaner works wonders... |
