Woof used to do this on occasion as a young pup too. It was a combination of nervousness and also feeding...See if the following works:
1. Don't let your sheepie have anything to eat, or much to drink say, half hour beofre your trip. 2. if possible have someone in the back of the car with him to comfort and reassure. 3. Otherwise ensure he's restained and feels safe 4. Are all your trips to exciting places, or to the dreaded vet? Our Woof bcame a lot less nervous (and dribbly) on car trips once he realised they meant exciting palces to visit rather than injections! Best of luck. |
Our dog used to be the same way. He is now 18 month old and a lot better he still drools like crazy. I took him for many car rides to try to get him used to it and also drove to a lot of places to walk him. I think now he thinks car rides=walks, haha. |
I take my babies to their grandparents when I'm traveling, about a 3 hour ride and Sam would get car sick everytime. Bless his heart! I talked to the vet and they said to give him one dramamine prior to the ride, (I only do this when going on long rides) and it has worked very nicely. It keeps him calm and keeps him from throwing up.
When going on short rides he seems to be okay if I take it slowly, don't make sudden turns, and if I don't give him too much to eat or drink prior to the trip. |
