My comments are not meant to be mean but... The instructor did not seem "that" good, although she did seem impressed by Simon's skill . We talked a little beforehand and its a small, small world. She brought up Kristine and Jan. I let her know we were friends with both. Simon had a lot of one on one since it was just him and the instructor's dog and that was good. She is as confused as I am with why Simon does the weave at home(and damn good too) but does not seem to recognize it at class. I was impressed that Simon did not act like a crazy dog and run out of control, although it may have helped that I kept treats in front of his nose for awhile All in all, I think its a good filler class for right now and we will see how things go. |

Congratulations! Love the plate! |
I love that Simon will weave at home, but not at class. Typical Sheepie!!!!! Reading your post made me think that I need to sign up for some classes too! ((thanks))) We are in the process of really cleaning our basement and Dino keeps saying that once it is all cleaned out, I can put my agility equipment down there and we can continue to practice this winter. I look forward to hearing more about Simon's progress!!! Good Luck!!! |
Good attitude Pam on the idea of a "filler class". Val and I took a rally class this summer that we didn't realize was a Novice class. To be honest the instructor did not do all that great of job of teaching the Novice class to someone who was just beginning. But because we both had some background with rally we were able to extract some great handling tips to clean up a few of our bad habits. So if you can get a few good things out of it then it will be worth it. Trying to find classes especially in winter around here can be hard because so many places teach outside or don't have heat in their building. Yet we don't want to take the winter off yet again. I am going to do my best to get into a class at an alternate facility for the months of January and February if my current instructor doesn't offer anything. We are scheduled until mid-December in her pole barn. |
Sounds like you had a decent 1st night back. Make sure you take it easy on yourself and ease back into activity! I'm sure Simon is THRILLED to be back doing things...and maybe it will end up beneficial having a break. Bad habits can fade, and they are more on board to work with you after an absence |
