why would tire be phased out? Do they think it too similar to jump? |
Not phased out just yet, though they are talking about moving to a displacable tire in AKC. Given that they just revised the rules/equipment requirements I don't think you'll see that happen real soon though. I'm not sure what the status is in CPE, but in AKC they just changed it so the tire is set 4" lower than your jump height, so if you're jumping 20" it will be set at 16" and so on. This is because if you set it at 20" the dog is effectively jumping higher than the regular jumps. It's very different from other jumps, obviously, and has to be taught separately and carefully. Did Jan get ahold of you to let you know Racine KC is selling off some of their equipment? By the way there's a run thru at Forward Motion/Kansasville today - 20/22" is running 11:30 to 13:30, with 24/26" to follow as I recall. Kristine |
I've just heard the same as Kristine. I haven't done CPE lately, but there wasn't any change mentioned there last I heard. This is the one I have - and it has worked and held up great. The tire is one of Chewie's favorite things! (and way back when, at the learning stages, he used to dart under it...blame it on the basset hound influence.... ) http://www.affordableagility.com/cgi-bi ... ?product=4 |

Yes Jan called me and yes she told me. But she said "I don't know if Kristine told you but...." She told me the dogwalk is all wood and hard to move but for $140-150 is a good price. I told dh about it and he said he can "probably" make one out of PVC for less money. Dawn that is the tire I am considering buying. Its getting colder and I'm not sure how long its going to be before the snow flies and we move to the basement which has a lot less room so I'm thinking of waiting till the spring to purchase more equipment. I'm still in the market for a good tunnel that doesn't cost an arm and a let so if you see one... |
