Professional grooming?

Cappi is almost 11mths, I brush him every day, the length of time spent depends on his mood.

I am guessing he is between puppy and junior coat for his age, but there are a couple of things I would like to ask.

He swims every day, loves the water, but this causes matting after drying him off with a towel. He is also never absolutely dry, will it cause health problems being damp all the time?

I would love to keep him in full coat but will it be easier in a year or so when he has his adult coat? Should i not fret so much about having him clipped now?

I am assuming a professional groomer will tether him to the table, he has not experienced this and I dont want him fighting and traumatised, but unless I have him clipped is there any point in sending him to a groomer if I brush him daily. Surely in a matter of days he will be matted again?

Can someone just point me in the right direction please?

If Cappi is getting wet everyday i would have him clipped unless you really want him in full coat .
Marleys groomer doesn't tether him up .If i was you i would ask the groomer if you could just go for a visit with Cappi first .Have the groomer look at him and let cappi get to know the groomer and ask what clip they would be able to do.Some do a complete shave and some leave a bit on.Make sure they will clip him how you would like and not just how they want too !!!
We haven't had a lot of success with groomers, and have come to the realization that keeping an OES in full-coat is a DIY project. Even if we found a terrific groomer who would do exactly what we wanted with Mady, there's no way the grooming would be frequent enough to make any significant difference. I'd still have to work constantly to keep her in fantastic shape anyway, so what's the point of bringing her to a groomer every month or two?

Mady spends a lot of time outside and plays pretty hard almost daily. But I prefer to keep her dry if possible, and try to train her to avoid things like mud puddles. I don't want to speak for everyone else, but it seems to me that all the other sheepie owners on these forums who do keep their dogs in full-coats do all the grooming themselves (correct me if I'm wrong anyone).
One of the things I've learned from grooming Ecco has to do with that towel-drying thing. Namely: don't do it. at least, don't rub the towel, that just causes a lot of matts that take forever to comb out. Instead, I lay towels across her and give her little squeezes, like hugs. She loves it. I even bought her a child's size poncho towel that she can wear around the house after a bath.
Tonks and Luna spent a good deal of the summer wet; hoses, swimming and such. During the warm "wet" months I keep them in a short puppy cut. But when their coats begin to get long, swimming gets cut back significantly or stopped. Its just too tough with all the matting. I think you can have a long coat, or a swimming dog. I'm not sure you can have both!

A good quality microfiber towel works great for this method too. We got an antibacterial pet one from Norwex, full bath towel size for Sunny. It's light, so she doesn't mind walking around with it for a bit. it's SUPER absorbant.

Glad to hear you're so diligent with grooming!
