Meanwhile, she has developed an odd habit. After she is released from her sit, Ecco gets up, walks all the way around me (like I was just trying to walk around her), and then sits again at my feet like, "Okay, it's your turn again. " |

If you can, give this a try. Have her sit, stay while in the house. Keep her in her stay and walk around a corner or go to another room and give her the "free" or "come" command and she will find you. Lots of praise and treats and these guys are really prettty smart and should pick it up quick. Do this 20 to 30 times a day increasing the time for her stay and she will have it in no time at all. Bailee learned these commands in one session when we had him at training. It's amazing what repetition, praise and lots of tiny cheese treats can accomplish. |

We practiced sit stay in environments where I could get distance, but the girls could still see me. It was like the further I could get away, and they could still see me, the more calm they were. My favorite was at a local coffee shop. The girls would sit and stay out on the patio, while I went inside and ordered my beverage. They could see me, so even though I was inside a building and they were outside, they were very calm about the whole thing. When I eventually moved out of their sight while doing sit stay, they were unconcerned. I now get them to sit on the bed and STAY every morning, while I search the house for what I did with the brushes and hair ties. |

Join the club, darling Sybil still struggles to not twist herself into a pretzel trying to keep an eye on me as I walk around her. She doesn't circle me after, however, but rather uses the tried and true OES method of enforcing owner stays - she sits on me Keep up the great work. Kristine |

They took their dog out for a long walk and stopped off at a pub along the way to get a drink. She put the dogs lead under a bar table whilst she went inside to get her drink. Whilst at the bar she heard commotion and turned around to see her dog inside the bar......with the table not far behind it!! I do love the quirky little things that they do. Kerry, congrats to both you and Ecco for the progress that you are making with your commands |
