The park ranger happened to be there checking tags when the sheepie showed up. She wouldn't let him in. He probably didn't have his liscense. For all the years I went to the dogpark before I moved to St. Louis, I never saw a ranger there. When I got back home, this ranger shows up all the time, pretty randomly. At first she was checking liscenses & rabies tags, and Brick & I got kicked out because Brick didn't have his liscense. So I got him his. Then, just a few months ago, they started requiring the dogs have some purple tag as well. The purple tag has the name of the grocery store that sponsors the park on it. I refuse to put that tag on Brick. He has enough tags on him now. Everything that the state, county, and town require by law. And this is a county park. She didn't ask to see Brick today. Maybe she finally recognizes him. But it aggrivates me that she takes her job so seriously. Really, what does she get paid? $10-15 per hour? To check tags? Our county is in a budget crisis right now. Seems like that should be the first job to go. So I'm a little upset that I couldn't meet the sheepie. They NEVER show up to the dog park. I've only seen one other one back in like 2005. That's it. He was a tall guy in a longer puppy cut. Hope he comes back again. |

I notice you live in NY...Me too...NY state has lots of useless jobgs! But really, I think it great they check like that. At least you can feel safe that the dogs in the park are up to date ob rabbi shots, etc... |
