My main question is. Frankie can not have his stuffed toy that he sucks on because one of the dogs that is going to be there destroys anything soft. I'm being an over protective doggie mommy I know, but it's his comfort thing. He likes to take it out to potty, sleeps with it and sucks on it before bedtime. Am I being stupid that he can't take it with him? I even thought about having him crated at night so he could take it. Now I haven't chosen this place yet, just trying to find out all of my options. What are your thoughts on this. Lisa and Frankie |

I haven't boarded my dogs but used to my first sheepie. I think that is common. Not allowing toys. Perhaps he can have his toy ONLY when he is in his own space, sleeping at night? I think one of the concerns is dogs fighting over toys. Is this a place where Frankie will be out with other dogs, like a day care, during the day? At night will he be sleeping in his own crate area? |
I don't board...I pay a sitter to stay at my house with Oliver and Lucy. I would be sad if mine couldn't have their comfort toy, but at the same time, the sitter seems concerned for the dog's safety, which is fantastic. |
Why not try giving Frankie a day or two at home without his sucking security toy, and see how he does? If he reacts badly, then you'll know he has to be able to bard with it. But if he adjusts, then you'll know he'll be okay without it. |
