(Information regarding the auction is listed below) This email is to let you know that we will be attending and we need all of the help that we can get. For those of you that have never been to a kennel auction, the inn’s and outs of pulling dogs are staggering. It isn’t as simple as bidding on a dog, picking the dog up and taking it home to hug and hold and make it feel good. Saving puppy mill dogs is the most difficult job/work that we have ever had the pleasure to do”. In June we were blessed to be able to take 78 dogs out of the puppy mill system and again in September another 60+ were pulled out of the breeder system. Most of us going to this auction have to leave our families and drive several hours and spend the night in a local hotel room just like anybody else. We will load our vehicles up with as many crates that can fit into them and go without hesitation because saving dogs lives from abuse is what we do. THIS AUCTION IS HUGE!!! WE NEED EVERYBODY’S HELP! Kansas City, Springfield and St. Louis airports are all within 2 hours drive. For those that have no idea what to do; Take a couple of vacation days off of work; rent a van or drive your vehicle, go to some flea markets and pick up as many crates as you can fit into those vehicles and take the plunge. You will not regret the experience and saving these neglected dogs really is what it is all about. ü Donations to out-bid the puppy mill breeders there to buy more stock to abuse is imperative. Any donation will be greatly appreciated as many of these dogs will go for 1 to 5 dollars· ü We need transport people there with vehicles and crates ready to transport the dogs to qualified rescues as they are run through the auction. Groups as little as one or even five at a time are welcome and even larger group transports would be ideal. Waiting till the auction is over before loading those little babies up is unnecessary as they can be taken out at any point once the bidding is over for that dog. If you don't have the stomach to see the dogs, but do have space in your rescue we can bid for you, but somebody must be there to pick up the dogs if at all possible. We will be available to help you through every step of the process and if you cannot attend please help out with donations through Pay Pal by clicking here and these funds will be used for bidding, transport, kenneling of as many of the dogs as possible prior to going to rescue, food and vetting. NOTE: Please send donations by the 24th of October. It is heartbreaking when the auction is over knowing so many dogs will be going to another crappy puppy mill or be killed because we run out of space or a rescue to transport them. Dog Bless, Chasity Ortiz & Judy Meehan If you would like to help in any way please contact: Judy Meehan at: jlsmith1@windstream.net ******From an earlier email: Here is the story behind the Mexico, Missouri kennel auction****** The infamous Herman and Bonnie Schindler, formerly owners of MO Puppy Expo in St Peters that was protested for over a year and investigated by Fox 2 St Louis reporter Chris Hayes which led to their lease being terminated, will no longer be the largest puppy mill in MO as they are selling out (along with their daughter, Lori Conrad) at auctions the end of October (details below). While we are thankful the Schindler's mill is closing, the fate of their dogs is up to us. We need rescue groups everywhere to get involved to save these dogs from going to another breeder/mill and continuing their lives of hell. PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH ANY RESCUE PEOPLE/GROUPS YOU KNOW, BREED SPECIFIC OR OTHERWISE. These dogs (and all the other mill dogs) deserve to know what love is and are the reason we are fighting to get Prop B passed. Once Prop B passes more millers who are unwilling or unable to treat dogs humanely will also go out of business and many more dogs will need to find rescue. Please help these dogs find a life and not another sentence as a puppy machine. For those of you unfamiliar with the Fox 2 stories about the Schindlers, go to http://www.fox2now.com and put "Schindler" in the search box on the right. Vote YES! on Prop B www.yesonpropb.com I don’t even have the words……..THIS IS THE LARGEST AUCTION I HAVE EVER SEEN!! OMG! THOSE POOR SOULS!! Everyone in rescue want the mills to shut their doors….now what are we going to do with all this dogs? Will they all go right back into the mills bought by other breeders? Please cross post to anyone in breed rescue whose dogs are listed to be sold. TEACHER’S PETS REGISTERED DOGS TO SELL ON FRIDAY OCTOBER 29th, 2010! I am heart sick over this news. I pray that people will step up and help either via monies or by their physical presence. I wish I was closer. Can you please email me and tell me where I can send a snail mail check to? Marianne |
Happy to see they are shutting down, sad for what the fate of many of these pups will be. Where can we send a donation to? |
The link to paypal in the body of the email does not work. You can contact Judy Meehan at jlsmith1@windstream.net. They are looking for donations in any amount before October 24th so they can bid for the puppies of which many will go for just a few dollars. If you can forward this to any rescue or shelter contacts, it would help get the word out. Thanks |
I am planning on going. My concern is bidding against other rescuers? Any codes or colors people are wearing to show they are there to rescue and not breed? I am going to try and get 1-2 GSD's or Yorkies and get them spayed ASAP! |
Bless you Talmasca! I suggest you contact Judy Meehan at jlsmith1@windstream.net She's the organizer of this rescue effort. Please post here after with your experience. |
I am hearing the dogs will go fairly high and I can't spend a ton of money. But we'll see. Thank goodness there aren't any OES's. |
Any dog in this situation desserves a chance!!!!!! Thank you all that are trying to help! Good Luck saving the babies! |
^^ I agree... thank you to everyone trying to give these dogs a better life. Quote: I am hearing the dogs will go fairly high and I can't spend a ton of money. But we'll see. Thank goodness there aren't any OES's. Dogs have gone for ridiculously high prices at some of these auctions. You just don't bid and pay $1,000 for one dog! Whoever goes in needs to have a responsible limit they will spend per dog and stick to it. Especially since this is still a government licensed dog breeder that wasn't shut down by the USDA. Who's to say they won't simply reopen later on? Did this breeder honestly only have 12 employees to care for 1,000 dogs? It's scary if the government felt this was adequate. This video was from back in July... http://www.fox2now.com/ktvi-fox-files-p ... 1363.story USDA Report- http://acissearch.aphis.usda.gov/LPASea ... ustid=4320 Just a link in case you ever want to search USDA licensed dog breeders and their inspection reports... http://acissearch.aphis.usda.gov/LPASea ... earch.jspx Does Missouri require breeding dogs be tested for Brucellosis prior to sale? Remember the breeder in NY that recently "depopulated" his kennel using carbon monoxide poisoning because his dogs were infected? http://acissearch.aphis.usda.gov/LPASea ... stid=33983 In my opinion, the USDA is not providing adequate supervision/enforcement for some of these large commercial breeders. If you live in Missouri, please vote your conscience on Proposition B come November. |

Remember the breeder in NY that recently "depopulated" his kennel using carbon monoxide poisoning because his dogs were infected? http://acissearch.aphis.usda.gov/LPASea ... stid=33983 I read the report. I don't know why that wouldn't be considered gross misconduct and his license suspended. The USDA must not have a defined line to cross before action is taken. |
I sent a check but not sure if it'll arrive in time. I am praying that each of them gets the chance they deserve. |
"I am praying that each of them gets the chance they deserve." I agree. I hope I can save just one dog. I worry the money will be high, but we will try. |
Just wanted to "re-surface" this post as the auction starts tomorrow. I spoke with Judy earlier this week: even if you cannot make a donation, transport help will be needed to get these dogs into rescues and foster homes. If you are available to transport, foster, donate supplies, etc. contact Judy. These dogs all deserve a good life, I'm praying they all get into rescue. |
Thinking of all of you that will be heading to the auction and wishing these dogs a much better life. |
Will be thinking of you all that are heading out there.. Does anybody know if there is a "symbol" to recognize rescue groups? I have heard of groups doing this so, they do not outbid eachother |
Donner's Mom wrote: Will be thinking of you all that are heading out there.. Does anybody know if there is a "symbol" to recognize rescue groups? I have heard of groups doing this so, they do not outbid eachother Someone made a spreadsheet with all of the dogs and distributed the list. The goal being that groups would identify which dogs they were going to be bid on so rescue groups don't bid against each other. I know they are also meeting beforehand. There is also supposed to be a vet on site to do health certificates to make the dogs legal for transport across state lines. There are a lot of rescue groups involved in this! |
My thoughts and prayers are with all those wonderful people heading out to the auction to rescue the poor babies and especially those poor mommies who were made to breed over and over again. Hope they all find a loving home and the happy life they so deserve! Members who are going please post a report about the experience. |
Was anyone able to bring home any of the auction dogs? It was mentioned here- http://www.fox2now.com/videobeta/?watch ... 69d37850ab |
I would love a status update too!!!! |
Here is an article about a New York Rescue group's experience with the auction: http://www.buffalonews.com/city/article237784.ece So happy for those poor babies who were rescued. The conditions were horrifying. |
It was painful just to see all the metal cages they were hauling off in that video... they'll likely be filled with more dogs by yet another commercial breeder. Thanks for sharing an update. I'm glad that many of them have been removed from that way of life. Bless those who were willing to get involved and make a difference in even one dog's life. |
I'm crying after watching that vid and reading the article. Sad for those that weren't as lucky, happy that at least 200 were saved by rescues. 200 saved! Thanks to all that participated. Marianne |
