Play-yard for 10 month old sheepie

Hi all.

I was wondering whether anyone would have any suggestions for toys/playthings to be put into a large yard area we have made for our 10 month old sheepie on our farm.

This is an area she can retreat to when we are out etc. as we cant leave her indoors on her own, due to counter surfing, digging up indoor plants and other such cheeky behaviour.

Although weve heard that generally sheepies sleep whilst their owners are out, our little girl is quite active at this time (despite the long walks and romps in the paddock) and Ive sneakily observed her through the window in the yard pacing up and down looking very bored. Ive got loads of rubber toys etc. which she only plays with for a few minutes and is then bored with. We were thinking of putting in a sand pit and maybe something to climb on but would appreciate any suggestions that someone might be able to give?

Thanks in advance

Cheers Kathy

Curtis is 10 months and he has three loves in his life:
-Me
-His basted rawhide bone
-A huge tennisball I bought for $6

Curtis LOVES this "tennisball." It's too big for him to get his teeth on it, so he just chases it around the yard between his paws. I suspect he would make quite the soccer player! He also loves his KONG toy that I bought him. They seem to have them at every pet store I've been to and he has a lot of fun with it. I would recommend the one for advanced chewers.

Good luck with your girl!
Hi Kathy,

This is a good one: there's a chew toy on the market you can buy which allows you to put a treat inside it (is this what a Kong is in the U.S. ?) Anyway, we found it excellent to use this method with some of the more "odourous" meat-treat you can but over here - Woof spends ages trying to get at the food inside!

PS. Funny and a bit odd that you should mention the big tennis ball thing Gissymiss - we bought exactly the same thing Sunday last for Woof. It cost us £5 (about $7.50) and lasted until.....last night (when Woof managed to chew it in half, despite the fact that he can't get it in his mouth either...)
