I've had my puppy for coming on two weeks and have introduced him to the guinea pigs (whilst I held him). He loves watching them in their pen and is facinated by their smell once I move the pen around the garden. The problem is he seems to think they are toys for him to play with. He sticks his paw out at them if they go near him (at the pen mesh). Once i had them in the same room together and he was fine until one of them started to move around the room and he went after him. I held him before he was able to touch the piggy but I'm unsure of what he would have done - probably treated him as a toy. Is it possible to get them to live in harmony? The guinea pigs have their own pen when outside but have the run of a particular room upstairs once inside. I would never leave them together unsupervised but would love it if I could be in the room with all three of them - just chilling out - as its a room I like to spend alot of time in and I'd hate to have to shut rocky (the pup) out permanently from this room. thanks andy. |

It really depends on the dog. Chewie is infatuated with my granddaughter's GP Princess. And Princess loves him right back. He loves listening to her, and gently kisses her whenever he can. She is not the least bit afraid, in fact she initiates contact...so she must sense his good will! Chewie is a really calm, sweet boy, and he likes caretaking....he would be maternal if he was a girl Nibbling his hock hairs - and sniffing- However, my son's Min Pin Dino literally tried to EAT her the 1st time he met her! Luckily he got hair, not her body, in his 1st bite..and she was just terrified |
That second pic is cute!!! |
I have a Malamute/Husky, an OES mix and a rabbit all living in harmony- They even go to bed together on occasion- It just takes time and supervision.... |
