Mmmmm... I know how you feel. Three in the pack had salmonella a while back and we never found the source. The bag of kibble you mentioned wasn't part of the recall? While it wasn't mentioned on the FDA site, the mfr. site said excess vitamin D could cause vomiting in some cases. Hoping Lucy feels better real soon. |

Thanks...good point...I'll probably throw out my bag of food and get a new one just in case. You know how recalls go, they just keep building on themselves. I just wish she could tell me what hurts, you know? I hate that she doesn't feel well, and I don't know how to make her feel better. |
Her temp is low, so that's good. Just keep monitoring her. If the temp goes up, or she gets lethargic, then it's probably time to go to the vet. I was just there a day and a half ago with Brick, so I know exactly where you're coming from. Good luck & keep us posted. We'll be thinking of Lucy. |
I hope Lucy feels better today and just has the odd upset tummy. |
Well, she slept through the night good, but had a watery stool this morning. No more vomit though. She is drinking water, and I gave her some (very little) boiled chicken and rice...she gobbled it up. Our vet opens at 7, I'll give them a call and see what they think about bringing her in. She's had 3 bacterial infections this summer, so I'm guessing we might be on our 4th. It usually just starts with the diarrhea though, no vomit. |
Just wondering how Lucy did throughout the day. Hoping she's feeling better. |

Thanks for thinking of Lucy! The vet wanted us to bring Lucy in for an exam. You will never guess what the diagnosis was...a build-up of calcium and vitamin D in her body, most likely due to her food! After stopping by the store for more chicken and rice, I bought new kibble. She is doing fine now, still a little tired, but SO much better! I hate it when one of my kiddos get sick. I just wish they could tell me what hurts. I love my little Lucy-girl and hate to see her not feeling well! |
...wow...and did you contact the company? I think you were saying your bags weren't listed as part of the recall? I hope Lucy is feeling back to normal soon. |
Glad you got a dx and that Lucy is doing so much better. Would you mind saying what brand of food was giving her the problems? |
^^^ Yes, please contact the company. It said on the mfr's. website that they will reimburse vet fees... Quote: Blue Buffalo will reimburse any veterinary or testing expenses related to illness caused by these products. http://www.bluebuffalo.com/news/vitamin ... call.shtml If by chance the production code number is different than what's been publicly posted, please share the number with the company too. Just in case more production runs were also affected. I'm very happy to hear she's doing better! |
I will definatley be contacting the company. Both Oliver and Lucy are on Blue Buffalo. I think we are going to switch to Wellness. |
Oh my gosh... so glad you guys did take Lucy in and found out what was wrong! Poor Lucy. Hope she's feeling a little better this morning!!! |
