These dogs are way too smart. We have had an electric fence since Moe has been four months old. I walk him daily but work long hours and my hubby is disabled and cannot walk the dog, Therefore we installed the fence so he can go out and get excercise while i am at work.Moe is now ten months old. Recently he discovered if he sits near the edge of the fence and recieves "the buzz" for abouy three minutes it forces the fence to reset and he can walk right through!! But the shock comes back on when it resets. We really cannot afford to insall a standard fence on our yard ..an acre.He loves to go outside.Any experiences with sheepies on runs??He only tries to get out when people are out..he is very social..any suggestions would be appreciated. He misses being outside. wE figured out how he was escaping by watching him..when he didnt know we were there |

moe is a real smart piece of work have you called fence co. to see if they have any ideas? maybe change reset time. |
Yes, they are smart!
Rather than putting your dog on a tie-out or worse, cranking up the zap factor of the electronic fence, why not consider securely fencing a small amount of your yard just for potty breaks? Most dogs are not likely to exercise themselves, they need to be walked or have the interaction with a human or another dog to get any exercise benefit. Our dogs are always indoors when not attended because people and other animals can walk right into a yard with electronic fencing. Some are even bolder and have broken into fenced yards and stolen dogs right out of them. |
