I am new at this so maybe overreacting. I have her resting in her crate with newspaper down and I'm sitting with her. Any advice? THANKS!! |

Yes, they over heat easily. After playing, only let her have a few ounces of water at a time, wait 10 minutes and give more. They are still babies and their parts aren't mature. The valves between the stomach and esophagus don't always work well initially. Plus the esophagus doesn't hold as much as the puppy tries to put down it. If you suspect severe heat problems, you can help by putting cold wet cloths against the tummy. Remember dogs only prespire from their mouth (panting) and from their paws underneath. Water urps are mainly water and sometimes some white mucus. |
From my recent experience with my pup Howie, yes they vomit. From the time Howie came home at 8 weeks until he was 4 months, he would be sick at least once a week. One time he ate a bird feather, it came back up. Everything he could get into his mouth he ate, we had to watch him so very closely. Water never was an issue for Howie, just garbage! Now he is over six months old and he vomited yesterday for the first time in 2 months. Have fun with your new little one, just keep an eye on what is coming up. We like pictures! peg & howie |
