I've met many dogs with seasonal allergies, it's not unique or even something special to sheepdogs. |
That is a bummer! Oscar has autoimmune issues (Immune Mediated Disease) and one of the ways it manifests itself is in allergies aka, the "Itchy Twitchies". He is definitely worse in the fall and spring, so it looks seasonal here as well. Oscar takes Benadryl daily, year-round, to keep things down to a dull roar. He also takes probiotics to help boost his overall immune system. Our first sheepdog, Quincy, had allergies as well. He was RAST tested, and he came back allergic to DUST. What a pain in the patoot! I went out and bought new triple HEPA filter vacuum cleaners, encased all beds and pillows in allergy covers and had to dust constantly. We did the allergy shots for Quincy for almost three years, and they didn't do a thing for him. He was on the Benadryl Cocktail as well. Does the Zyrtec work for her? Hopefully, it does, as it seems to have very limited side effects. Laurie and Oscar |
Barney has allergies and they do seem to get worse in the fall and spring. Unfortunately none of those benadryl/zyrtec/claritin medicines worked for him... |
