Anyways I seen where someone said something about the dogs filling out more if you wait. I dont understand. I thought that this would actually help them fill out. Oliver is kinda tall and sleder. I just thought that that was from his genes. I would like for him to be more rounded just because I like fat things, LOL. But not unhealthy ofcourse. He isn't eating alot either. He only eats a little at each feeding. Could he be bored with his food. If treats are offered he will ofcourse take those, I have tried feeding him like pieces of apple and he hates that. So any suggestions on that? |

my dogs love raw carrot. Have you tried grating some of that on his food? |
I've noticed, over the years, the dogs do tire of their food. A change now and then helps. I always try to get something better than what they were eating. Couple of times that backfired and they refused the new stuff, even picking it out during the change over. I've had to add chicen stock, grated cheese, whatever to perk their interest up. So far so good. As to the neutering, early neuters seem to be excessively tall........maybe the hormone controls when the bone growth plates start to harden and with out the dogs get taller. It's been my oberservation, no scientific study that I'm aware. At 9 months I think the boy events would out way any concern I'd have about growth. They are close now and from 12 to 18 months there's not much height but some broadening of the chest.....unless they were neutered real early like 10 weeks or so. (one of my boy Pys was done at 10 weeks and was a strangest looking dog.....legs too long, body never really filled out......strange...and he got bone cancer at 5 or 6....I've always wondered.....) So to avoid marking, humping and general rowdiness, I'd take him him for a snip. |
