Q re our 9 wk old OES puppy

:D my wife and I just adopted the most adorable 8wk old OES last Sun - she's proving to be a quick study for just about everything - and we can see growth in just this week alone. - we've had 3 OES in years past, but that was long ago, which leads to my Q - w/i general guidelines, how tall, wide, long and heavy can we expect her to get -she is from AKA reg parents, if that means anything re my Q. We want to get her a crate that will still work, sizewise, when she's grown (they're too $$ to be buying them "to size" as she grows. Thanks for whatever help you can provide - R -

BTW pls let me know if this is the wrong place for this note - I'm new to this. Tx

Congratulations on the new addition! AKA registration? Don't know that. Even an AKC registration isn't saying much since anyone breeding purebreds can get that, but it doesn't mean it's quality dog.

On average your girl will probably be around 70-maybe 80 lbs. She could be as light as 65 lbs. Height varies greatly on dogs in general, but those closest to breed standard :

Size, Proportion, Substance
Type, character and balance are of greater importance and are on no account to be sacrificed to size alone.

Size-- Height (measured from top of withers to the ground), Dogs: 22 inches (55.8 cm) and upward. Bitches: 21 inches (53.3 cm) and upward.

I would imagine nothing larger than a Large 36x23 crate and maybe even smaller. I'll be curious to see what others use. I'd go one more.......42 crate if you knew she was going to be bigger. I have a 48" crate in the garage, Jack fills it, but MO and Harry can squeeze in together. Just depends on the dog.
Hi, and welcome to the forum! We use a 48 inch crate, our sons dogs(boxers) visit frequently so they share. It's very roomy for one eighty pound oes, but you want them to be able to change positions etc. Also, most kennels offer a separate divider that will section the crate to fit a smaller dog or eight week old puppy. Personally, the largest size worked best for our needs. Good luck with your new baby!!
My girls are AKC registered dogs from a Back Yard Breeder (byb). One of mine is 70 pounds, the other over 80. One of their siblings didn't get much larger than 50 pounds (she was in our local OES rescue so we all got to meet her). So depending on how well your breeder bred, did she use dogs that were CH dogs, or just whatever she had lying around (like mine did), you may see a big variance in the size of your dog as an adult.
welcome from me too. We have an 8 month old OES and we use the "giant" kennel that is 48x32x35. Gives her room to stretch her long legs out in and she likes to sleep on her back most of the time so this make her more comfy.

Congrats on your new baby.

saw it said TX on your post. are you from Texas? I am. :)
Congratulations and welcome!
