Earlier in the day Tiggy had a long walk, a visit with me to the italian coffee shop for hot chocolate (me) and sweet pastry (both of us ) and a trip to the vets for her vaccination. So she wasnt entirely batty like last time but she was still OBSESSED with the grass. All she wanted to do was sniff the ground, especially in the ring where all the other dogs and their dropped treats have been. We had a very experienced agility competitor as instructor and she suggested we go right back to basics. Tiggy and I walked and walked and walked and Tiggy got a treat every step I took as long as she looked at me and didnt sniff the ground. Tiggy was pretty happy with the treat bit actually. We then ran the tunnel-once, after that she got too excited and silly. And we practised her take off/timing over a ground level, two jump series. She drove to her tug toy really well and the instructor said she timed her take off well. I really think that a big part of the problem is that Tiggy is BORED!! If I take her to the park on our own and run front crosses with her she watches me all the time and sticks almost too close. I guess I'm just going to have to work on being more fun. You know hand out more treats, play more games of tug etc. Because until I can get better focus we're stuck in beginners but while we're stuck in beginners she's bored and won't focus. PS why do I have that sinking feeling? The one that tells me Tiggy is just too smart and I am still playing catch up with the little Miss and her schemes. |
