keeping bottom clean

ok this may be a bit gross but I have to ask.. How do you keep poop from sticking to the hair on the butt? Ryleighs sticks, dries, and clumps there. What do yall do to keep the area clean?
Thanks

Not an unusual question. I shave the hair a bit closer to get a "poop shoot"... and then I clean the area after a poop with an anti bacterial wipe to get the "hangers" off...Yes, my neighbors think I am nutty when they see me wipie my dogs butt 8O But anyone with an OES knows they probably do the same
i just have to add, you then treat yourself bigtime.also, if you're silly like myself, you can whisper ah to your furkid. after washing your hands thoroughly of course. :cow:
If I wash my hands any more I think the skin is going to peal off! I walk my dogs with poop bags, a few paper towels and hand wipes for myself! Gotta love this breed
Knock on wood, we've had dry, firm poops for over a year here.
And this is with travelling, shows, agility trials, motel rooms, strange water......yes, I am HAPPY! :D

I used wipes in a pinch, but had much better luck with a spray bottle of waterless shampoo and dry paper towels. Of course the hose with a spray nozzle works best in nice weather!
Make sure the "Outlet Pipe" is trimmed so as they go no clumped hair stopping it all falling to the ground and not stuck there dangling off the butt. :cow:

I always check after to see if any gum nuts are stuck, not so much now with my 2 with tails but previously if slightly on the softer side "Sure Enough" a Klingon was guaranteed.

Found the easiest way a bit of baby powder sprinkled on and a quick flick of the brush or even a comb and no dry gum nuts or still fresh ones hanging around  Makes them smell better too after :P

Gotta luv those hairy butts 8) My hubby walks them I am the butt checker & sometimes Powderer after so we can bring them in without Poopie smells or a nugget being inside ready to drop on the floor and one to stand in and squish onto shoes without realising there was a nugget hatched dropping off & living on the floor .
hahaha thanks for all the info ( I think) I guess I need to trim, wipe and powder. :P and I thought my baby butt wiping days were over.
Dawn's photo essay is helpful too for poop butt problems. http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28718 Does your dog arch when he goes? I have the hardest time with Wendel's rear compared to my other two. He barely arches his back and thus, get's poopy but occasionally.

Not as long as you have a sheepie those days aren't over LOL.
Like a garderobe on an old castle the fall requires free unencumbered passage, otherwise there can be an unsightly mess! so a nicely trimed poopshoot is the way to go, it's fine when the bowel movements are solid it is never an issue, but when there is any looseness then it reall helps.
