I have never needed to try it, but I know it can be done. Especially in the breed ring, which can torment intact males with bitches in heat showing right next to them...or crated near them. Luckily Chewie pretty much ignores them....he still keeps most of his brain and doesn't get all crazy. But, he's always had the expectation to ignore it and pay attention. We even made it through Martha being here in heat.... |
I've done so, with Belle, in agility. The day we ran on a field that had just recently been vacated of geese. She AIR SCENTED (surprising, given that the ring was covered in geese poop and feathers, which she ignored) throughout the standard course, with her head stuck in the air, which does not make for good jumping style. I think she took five bars down, which was totally unlike her! So, dabbed some vicks on her before her jumpers run, problem solved. Silly bitch. I'm surprised I haven't had to do this with Sybil yet, who has an extraordinary nose. Instead two agility instructor suggested I try tracking with her, which we start almost as soon as we get back from the national. Susan, what made you think of that? Kristine |
Grannie Annie just mentioned on her site and I remembered friends have used it for their own dogs in competition. I was wondering if it might help some of our skiddish sheepies in their classes. |
I've used Vicks AND pure vanilla on my boy's noses thru the years. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't! just depends on how 'good' the girls smell! |
