Puppy won't chew food!

My 16 week old OES puppy doesn't chew his food or treats, he just swallows them whole. I've tried spreading his food out on the floor to try and slow him down but he literally inhales it. I've tried hand feeding him one kibble at a time and he still doesn't chew it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

For now, soak the kibble for ten mins or so in warm (not hot) water before giving it to him. Once it's mushy he'll have to "chew" it, and that might get him in the habit of chewing.
Have you checked his mouth? Has he lost many of his baby teeth? I had a 4-1/2 month old here last weekend & she was literally missing 1/2 her baby teeth! And the adult teeth hadn't come in yet.
Ditto, if the mouth hurts from teeth leaving and coming in or if they are short some good grinders, they will swallow it whole. Dogs are not chewers either. In the wild they rip their food off and chew just enough to get it down and let their super strong stomach acids digest the food.

If your pup is inhaling it's food due to stress--"someone might steal my food" then put a food can or large rock in the middle of the feed pan to make them work for their morsels.
