I am having an issue with how to respond to the attention. I can feel my face melt into a smug 'why yes, I DO have the most adorable, well behaved, well groomed, full of mischief and delightful personality dog in the universe' expression. And yes indeed, she IS always that perfect (they don't need to know about all the toilet paper rolls she has tried to steal). But I was raised not to brag and be overly proud. So I try to make my face more serene and less smug. The result, I fear, is a face that is more grimace than smile (kind of like this face ). What do I do with my face when people tell me how wonderful my dog is? |

We just got back from the feed store where I gave Patch a bath - it is great, they provide the raised tubs, shampoo, towels, grooming tables, dryers hung from the ceiling, it makes bathing so easy. Patch doesn't mind it a bit and since I have to keep her beautiful for her pet therapy visits, the feed store is so convenient and only $9. She is now between 9 and 10 years and still gets all kinds of attention - as you described, it is like she is a movie star, it is amazing. She just stands there and everyone comes up to her saying they had one who lived next door, or knew someone who had a sheepie, etc etc. Her warm personality and that huge beautiful butt brings most of the attention. She even gets a free bath now and then. I always say, "yes, she is a good girl, I just love her." And I always say she is a rescue, too, to give rescue a plug. |
Let that smile shine thru & then tell them that they should seriously consider this breed next time since they are so smitten with her! |
Go ahead and SMILE...its great to have a rock star. |
I agree! Soak it up! These adorable baby's get so much attention its great |
Or "Under her cute exterior resides a little devil." It is a testament to your care that she receives all the compliments. Accept them, you earned them. |
