Currently I own an Edemco dryer that is perfect. However, as I plan my show schedule, I want to have a freestanding setup. So here is what I have: Quote: Edemco Best 'N' Show Stand Dryer I also have all the accessories for this dryer. The F160 features 99 CFM; 19,000 FPM; temperature of 95-145 degrees; 115/120 volts; 15 amps; an 8-foot heavy duty cord; mica heating element, and 1-year warranty. It also includes a lightweight collapsible stand, adjustable from 24" to 43" high. The swivel extension arm can be used in place of hose to convert the F160 to a finishing dryer. I would like to buy the smallest Honda or Yahmaha generator that would power a nice force dryer. It would be ideal if I could use the dryer I own, but am not opposed to buying a smaller dryer (the Metro 4.0 for example) to accomodate the smaller generator. I would rather scale down the dryer than increase the weight of the generator. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance for any help you offer. Thanks one and all! |

Is this for outdoor shows? I only ask because a lot of facilities have rules about bringing gasoline powered stuff inside the buildings so I wouldn't want your plan to be thwarted before you get started! |
Yes, thanks. Strictly outdoors. I have been showing for about a year now and want to ramp up the presentation. Thanks. |
I think it's a cool idea to be all self-contained. In this part of the country, our outdoor shows are pretty limited since most of the year is too cold so I've never seen anyone else with a generator set up. Have you? Was it insanely loud? (I realize that I'm not in any way answering your question. Excuse my curiosity!) |

(I realize that I'm not in any way answering your question. Excuse my curiosity!) We have the same issues - it would not be cost effective, as there are so few truly all outdoor shows. Plenty of show with the rings outdoors, but grooming is indoors w/ electricity. And over half the year it's not even that - all indoors d/t weather. It must be a southern thing, with a climate to support it. I have seen a few, but they seem to be handlers, who mostly make the southern circuits as well. |
Ah, interesting. Almost all the shows I do are outdoors - our local show is one of the largest and it's in early January. Last year it was in the low 70s. Yes, I have seen the set up. No, it's not loud since both generators mentioned are designed for the camping market. They are in the mid 50db level so certainly quieter than the dryers. These are not like industrial use generators. The issue is weight. I can get a generator that powers 15 amps, I just don't want to lift 100+ pounds of dead weight. Well thanks. I guess the answer is just to scope out what dryers people are using who have this set up. Thank you both, even though ya didn't give me the answer I am a step closer to finding the solution! But lemme ask (now I'm curious!) do you bathe in the motel rooms? Or do you only bathe prior to the show? |
I only bathe prior to the shows and I make him wear boots for all outside trips. If he pees on himself, I use rinseless shampoo and cornstarch and keep a little dryer on hand (sometimes a hand dryer or the MetroForce mini). |
Boots here too; and also do foot baths in a pail or basin. Face washes with waterless products before showing. I also do the over the tubside face wash like I do at home at the motels too - that one is pretty simple. I bring my smaller Metro dryer to all the shows - it lives in my show bag. |
How interesting. I must not have found the right waterless product. It took a couple of tries to find the right boots! How long does it take you to blow out the whites with Metro's mini? |
