Here's the Reason Why...

I've often mentioned my comedy is carrying over into my "real life". Here's the reason why.....

17 years I've been doing this!! It explains why I can laugh at myself and why Sheepies are the perfect dogs for me.
Please note the web site has been "underconstruction" for about 4 years..and still not finished.

Explains a lot...ha ha!

What a cool thing to do! Oes are the perfect dog for you :D Wish I could see you show.
:D Thanks and luckily when I'm "in character" no one knows who I am..ha! My own child didn't know it was me until he was about 10 and I told him. He saw one of my characters "Happy" on a tv show and said I know her! ( I have a cartoon voice I use so my own voice isn't recognizable.) Sheesh felt like I was telling my son about Santa ...same sorta thing..but figured he had caught on but..nope he was shocked at the time. 8O

17 years ago, I was quite shy about driving around town like that, but now I just "ham" it up when I'm in costume as people take second looks when I pull up next to them. Old people, teens, kids all wave...it's like being a good will ambassador of the city and having a secret identity. 8)

Most teens are horribly embarressed of their parents and he even more so...imagine if your mother was a "cartoonish character"!! Other kids think I'm cool but not him so I keep my identity secret . If I'm appearing as "myself" then he's not that embaressed but most people don't wear long purple satin dresses around either.

If I'm performing theater shows for the Arts Council, civic events or my favorite - performing at hospitals it's nice to make people laugh at my expense.

In 1999 I won the title of Worlds Funniest Magician, the beautiful southern belle wearing the pink dress on the web site..nyuck nyuck. My dentist made me those beautiful buck teeth made out of porceline so they look rather real when I have them on as Miss Parfait. See Sheepies and I were meant for each other!!! It's often been said that a Sheepie is the clown of the dog world...I should actually start wearing a black nose instead of red!

way to go!!! We went to a school on Valentines day and brought the kids lunch and treats. Then the Valentines Fairy showed up! She made all our day! If you can bring that kind of joy to young and old that is great. Keep up the great work!
What a wonderful thing you do! I have known all along you were fun, but
this is quite unique! How cool to make people smile like you do.
Truly a sheepie person!
I love that you can do that, I had no idea how much fun it is to have a performer entertain you.

We wanted to celebrate that my daughter was going to school, we felt that is was big milestone for all of us. So we had a party and hired a clown, she was great. Now we have to do it again for our son, this summer. My husband and I are looking forward to it probably more than the kids. This time tho we will get a different clown to get a new show.
Hi,

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I must admit I've had many wonderful memories and adventures during the course of performing as characters. This past year I've only done a handful of shows where previously I did hundreds every year. It's kinda tough working every weekend and holiday and since Panda came into my life I spend most weekends on outings with the dogs.

One of my funniest stories and the most memorable one, is my mentor in magic called me once unable to perform as she was very ill. The show was the next day. I agree to do the show for her. The party was a private party and as I entered I saw the dad go up the stairs and was astounded as he and I grew up only a few doors apart from each other! He didn't watch the performance but did come downstairs the final mins of the show where I did an esp trick. A one in a million occurance as his daughter said," if you know esp what's my daddy's name?"

Ha! Of course I knew his name!! The she said " What elementary school did he go to?" I knew that too!!! The kids flooded me with questions..how old was he when he did this...or that...when he got married...ect...!!! By now his wife and other relatives went from open mouthedness to complete astonishment. (Remember I was in costume and disquise my voice so no one knew who I was) Not only that, but I hadn't seen him in aprox 10 years! More amazingly is, since his wife hadn't hired me as I was only a replacement for my friend whom was sick, they had no idea of my true name and unbelievably the little girl asked questions about her dad and not her mom which would have changed the events. What a memorable day!

My best moments I've mentioned are visiting the hospitals, kids and old people are my favorites. For years I visited the extended care unit at a huge hospital and they would announce on the PA system that I arrived. For 7 years I did this a couple times a year and each time one of my favorite residents would await my arrival by the front door and give me a ride on his wheelchair where he would tear down the hallways. Ernie lived to be 92 years old and the last time I saw him he and I were squaredancing in the dining hall...I was out of breath but he continued to swirl around in his wheelchair. It would be difficult too, as I would notice some familiar faces weren't there my next visit. Ernie didn't appear the last time I was there but the nurse presented me with a photograph of He and I that he kept on his nightstand for the past 5 years. I was dressed as a clown in that photo. :O)

I usually was a different character but dressed as a funny doctor I would knock on the patients doors, have a beautiful ornate box in my hands and claim I was picking up stool samples. I would explain the person in the room next to them gave me one in this box and open it up to show beautiful carved little wooden stools. Ha! The residents would laugh hysterically as this little piece of bathroom humor as it fit with the hospital setting. I also had a very realistic looking cat puppet that I claimed to have snuck in the hospital and the residents would love petting it and talking to it where it would respond by smiling back and them and waving it's paw.

Anyway I should stop rambling as I talk about the "characters" as if they weren't me. In truth, I'm still the same person behind the faces but it's how people respond to the character and hense you sorta become that character for the duration until the makeup comes off. My kids then use to say I turned into Krusty the Clown when I walked into the house.
