People with last names starting with A-L have to show up Monday morning. Mine starts with G. To top it off, its Childrens court. If there is a silver lining, its that Childrens is only a few miles from my house. That means I don't have to take a bus downtown. |

Never heard of Children's Court. What type cases? |
Is Childrens' courtt the same as Family COurt? I'm surprised because here in NY, Family Court, or Juveline Court, does not have jury trials. The trials are called "bench trials" and its before a Judge, not a jury. Curious to know wht type cases they ahve in your neck of th woods... |

I went for day #1, found out that the cases are usually for terminating parental rights or deciding weather a child needs to be removed from a home because of neglect. First case, to last a few days and they need a pool of 30. Names are called and its not mine. Second case to last more than a week and they need a pool of 50. My thoughts were not very good at this time because I'm sure my name will be called. They get to #50 and MY NAME IS NOT ON THE LIST!!!!!!!!! There were "5" people left and we were excused and were done. DONE as in no more calling in, not stuck on a jury....I get to go...I did have to call work as this took only half a day but they didn't need me either. |
What a nice day, not wanted by either work or jury! Time for a manicure/pedicure, facial and favorite libation! |
