Congratulations on the nuptials! But be prepared for serious Mady withdrawal. Josh and I went with his family to spread the cremains of his uncle in Aspen Colorado. It was such a beautiful place! But the entire time we were there we were whining about missing our dogs!! |
You're getting married? (apologies if you wrote about his as my visits to the forum have been sporatic this summer) If so, congrats! Think it's rather sweet that you have an important date to attend and have thoughts of Mady. Marianne |
Congratulations and TRY to have a great time, even in your Mady-deprived state! (Speaking as someone who has never spent a night away from Oscar ) Laurie and Oscar |
This is brutal. It isn't like she is a loud dog, she rarely barks, but dammit the house is so silent. I missed her bugging me while I cook. I missed her looking hopefully at the cheese grater, desperately wishing that I would 'accidentally' spill some grated cheese on the floor for her. Does this mean that we will never travel again? If we can't get through 3 days, how could we get through 3 weeks? We didn't even KNOW this puppy 8 months ago, how could she possibly have wormed her way so deep into our hearts? I miss my Mady girl. |
Uh-oh. You have been bitten by the Mady Bug. Don't worry, it's only contagious to those living in the immediate vicinity of such cuteness. With our first sheepdog, we used to travel without him, as my dad would come and stay at our house. Oscar is such a handful, and so high maintenance that I really think he would become ill if we left him. So Oscar has always joined us on vacation. It's a sickness...... Laurie and Oscar |
We are going away at the end of August for a week to a family reunion, Howie will not be joining us. There will be way too many people and activities happening for us to focus on visiting with folks we have not seen in years and training Howie at the same time. It was a hard decision to not to take him with us, but we are really fortunate our breeder, (who is wonderful) is going to take Howie into her home for the week. I think Howie is getting the better part of this deal, he gets to play with other Sheepies and get spoiled, me...I get to spend a week with, um, family. I feel for you Kim...the positive side to this is you actually can wash your kitchen floor without wet paws helping you. Oh darn, you have no time to clean house...you are getting MARRIED!! peg |

1 more sleep! |
Over the last few days, leading up to our wedding, one would expect us to be excited, thinking about the vows, the friends and family, the party. But no, not us. All we could think about was Mady. There was a big screen in the wedding place and David put together a slide show of pictures of family and friends, loved ones who were no longer with us, cute childhood photos. The show had 5% family/friends/childhood photos, and 95% Mady photos. From where I was on the dance floor, I would look over and, at any point, see a dozen people watching the Mady show. I would hear choruses of "ooooh" and "aaaah", or "how beautiful" and they were NOT talking about the bride! We are well and truly sunk with this Mady girl of ours. Something has changed in my DNA. I really don't see how we can ever travel again (and we are folks who like to travel-our last trip David had me riding a camel and camping in the Sahara Desert). I wonder, do breeders or rescues have any sense of what they do to people when they hand over an OES puppy or grown up dog? Was Amber quietly giggling under her breath that first time I sat on her sofa and she plopped Mady into my lap, knowing what would become of us? I mean, really! On the surface, Mady is just a pile of fluff with brown eyes, but I am starting to realize that there is some magic in that sheepie stare and now David and I are slaves to it forever. Oh, and a word of advice to you all. NEVER let a man pick his own tux. He looked like a member of the Soprano family... |
you didn't know you have to dress men? whatsa wrong with lookin lika da soprano family member? well anyway, congrats and it's much easier being a made member of da OES family. you won't have to die by living by da gun or knife and you'll have alot more laughter in your lives. p.s. sheepies are terrible "earners", they are true wiseguys. they never carry any money. |
we all would love to see a wedding pic |

I can relate with this SO much! We travel about once a month, and leaving the girls at the kennel is tough. I wait until the last possible minute to do it; on the trips where I have to drop them off the night before, but we don't leave until the morning, the house is SO quiet! Thats part of the reason my girls go to what w elike to call "posh doggie spa kennel"; I couldn't stand to think of them missing us as much as we miss them! And congratulations on your nuptials! |
