Grooming table for Frankie

Frankies really good when he goes to the groomer. When I try to groom him it's crazy madness. I can barely touch him with a comb or brush. I think it's time to get a portable grooming table.
I just need to Know what kind to get and what size to get.

Frankie weighs 65 lbs.
Thank you for your suggestions

Lisa - I'm not sure what you would have for local retail places by you. We have none by us, so my choices went to getting one at a show or from a catalog.

Our newer one is from Petedge (petedge.com) and has been a very good table. The price was unbeatable as well. It got lugged around to shows for 2 years, so we really gave it a test beyond home use.

They have many to shoose from, the one we got is this one - http://www.petedge.com/product/Grooming ... /47306.uts

The table is 24 x 36 and is the pink one. It was a gift for LeAnne, and I kept our old black one. It's bigger and heavier, so really only handy for at home. It's 24 x 48. We swapped while showing Chewie, so I had the more portable one.

They really last for years and years, so they really are a good investment. I leave mine set up all the time, and I use it as an extra tabletop when not in grooming use- it's in a multipurpose room, so crafts, sewing and misc stuff make it quite the handy piece to have.
I also put all the dogs up there for nail trimming.

I would say the smaller 24 x 36 would work, and you always can go bigger. Chewie's 70 pounds and 23.5 inches tall and it worked fine. It's normal for legs to hang off the sides when they are laying down - here are a couple from us at shows -

Thanks Dawn
They look great. I was looking on ebay for them but your price is much nicer. Stupid question. How do you get them up on it? I probably would have to pick Frankie up and put him on it.
Do you think this would make him behave while I brushed him out?

The dogs really look like they like being there.

Thanks

Many dogs jump up. Ollie, our 1st OES, jumped up on it every chance he got, just for fun!

The pink one is a bit taller - a plus because while I'm only 5'4", LeAnne is 5' 10" and it's her table. Our black one is a few inches shorter, so better for me.

Chewie never jumped up - I occasionally get him to put his front feet up by himself, however most of the time he justs walks over to the table and I lift his front paws, then I boost his rear up as he walks his front feet forward. When he was younger he never walked forward, so I ended up feeling like I was packing him onto the very edge of the table. He learned though....

Many dogs immediately are better on the table, just the fact that they are up in the air seems to help. The rest is training and making it part of the routine. Mine are all envious of the one getting attention on the table, so I feel it's been helpful in making the table seem like a very good thing! Even Simon who really doesn't like his nails trimmed gets jealous, and all he has done up there is nail trims!

I do alternate grooming on the table and the floor, and each has merits. If I'm just doing a line brush through for maintanence, it doesn't matter for Chewie and I - both work.
Anything that involves trimming, shaping, stripping, is done on the table. :D
i give billy a bunk up onto the table he goes up on on 2 paws and barks till i get there! so i give him a bunk up by just basically grabbin his ass.
as a groomer i have so many people saying there dog just wont accept a brushing but it stands there beautifully for me to have a groom. they come back gob smacked
i always recomend having a certain place for a groom, give treats after each stage. and dont take no for an answer if they get away with it they willl do it again because they have won. be firm but fair
good luck
Laika will actually jump from the floor but I don't like that or jumping down. I usually put the table up against the couch and they climb up from there. Or the two leg on table and I lift the bum up
