What is your dog's favorite toy?

I am curious as to what makes a toy special?
As I wonder through the pet stores and see the variety of balls, toys, chewy things along with the crazy price tag for each item...I think 'is this toy worth $15.00?". I'd be happy to pay $50.00 for a toy that would keep my dog busy, challenged and would not get destroyed in minutes.

My puppy's favorite toy (at this point in time)...an empty water bottle.
For me my favorite toy of his... an orange ball that I put kibble in.
Howie rolls it around the floor, food drops out, he is BUSY, and my husband & I eat supper in peace. :clappurple: I drilled an extra hole in the ball, makes the kibble fall out easier and it provides an extra air hole just in case he gets his mouth around the whole ball. I love this ball because it causes Howie to slow down on his eating. It was the best $9.00 I have spent.

What is your dog's favorite toy and what is your favorite toy of theirs??

I love those round kibble dropping balls, and our Hudson did too, when he was an only dog. Rudy loves it now, but only if he's the only dog in the room. When they're both together they steal from each other and quickly abandon it completely for a wrestle/bitey fight.

Hudson is okay with just about any toy. He loves keep away with a stolen sock. I do not love it when we play keep away with a stolen sock. If Rudy gets the sock he swallows it, which ups the ante considerably.

Rudy is a HUGE chewer/eater/destroyer and can't have most toys. He's pulled apart stuffed toys, ropes, and decimated a Kong. Nylabones that are bone shaped he can shatter, but the Nylabone ring has proven indestructible for him. Only one pet store here carries them (that we've found) and they never have more than two in stock, so we've cleaned them out repeatedly. We have one or two in each room. Rudy gets these anxious periods (they are becoming fewer and further between now and I'm really delighted by that) and we discovered that if you hand him a ring he'll chew like a wild dog for ten or fifteen minutes and then relax, and pass right out.

So, our favourite toys are the orange treat ball and the Nylabone rings.

THEIR favourite toys are each other. And dirty, smelly socks they shouldn't have.
HEART'S :hearts: :hearts: sheepie suckie.......

I have no idea why Heart picked ""one of her own"" to do the sucky-paddle thingy on every evening...one of these days, I need to ask her!!!!!!!
Both Chap and Harley love stuffed animals. After realizing that it does not make a difference if it's a new dog stuffie that cost $15 or one the kids won at a carnival, we started picking up 50 cent - $1 stuffed animals at thrift and resale shops. I couldn't care less how fast they kill them!

Lacy does not do toys of any variety.
For Chewie it is hands down the hard white big bones. He will always pick it here, and anywhere else he goes. He will dig through the dog toys and always picks that, everywhere he goes!

He does it at Gabbys (his Samoyed friend), at Kristines, Judi's, LeAnne's....crazy dog
In the house Tiggy's fave is a big hard bone.

Outside she loves, loves, loves to chase her squeaky ball then run round and round the park just squeaking it (gets us a laugh every time). Not just any ball though it has to squeak or its dead and she doesnt want it.
Edgar used to love all the plush toys. Once we got Aggie all she loved to do was eat the plush toys. So now we have to buy tough rubber ones. Edgar doesn't like them as much but finds he must have them when Aggie decides to play with them.
Asgard has umpteen toys and gives them all a fair go but he really likes these Dentafun chew bones we got him http://www.zooplus.ie/feedback/shop/dogs/dog_treats_chews/dental_care/dentafun/128796

Total bargain at £2/$3 each and he spends about an hour a day chewing his latest one!!

They do get super dirty though....we cringe when he starts on the fluffy end
Well it's hard to answer that without being somewhat dishonest to what THEIR favorite toy is

They're favorite toys are always the ones where they can shred in a minute or less. Which would be any tough not specifically designed for large dogs.

Their favorite toy NOW because there's no way I would waste my money on a normal squeaking toy ...is any touch chew ball that squeaks. They're always $18+ a toy, but they can't destroy them so it's worth it to me! Rope toys [for large dogs] too. 8)
Asterisk's current favorite toys are a small basket ball that Josh won in one of those crank grabbing games at the mall and a little pink squeaker I got from my agility instructor. She will hold the pink squeaker behind her canines and will spit it on the floor and grab it again.

Wendel's favorite toy is me!
There are 3 ranks for Mady's favourite toys:

1. Any toy she can't have.

2. Any new toy.

3. All other toys which she thinks she can shred to pieces.

Oh wait, who am I kidding, her top favourite toy is:
1. Me.
Kody loves his plushies very much and loves to carry them around in his mouth...I guess I got lucky because he does not EVER tear them up, it's pretty funny because he actually grooms them from time to time :clappurple: . But his other favorite that I allow him to take outside is a large looking "Tennis Ball"...it looks just like a tennis ball only the size of the lightweight rubber kids ball (12" Diameter), he kicks this ball around like a soccer ball with his front legs.
Murphy loves rawhides and the stuffing-free toys from tv - not sure of the name, but they run $9.99 at Walgreen's or Target and have two squeekers. We noticed that they were more durable than some of the other "dog" toys and it took him several months to chew a hole thru "Rodney Roadkill (the racoon). We monitor the toys pretty closely as they start to wear to avoid having him get the squeeky. He's not much of a chewer (except for the rawhides) or shredder though, so this may not work for other dogs that do.
My dogs' favorite toys are each other. If they use a toy together, I swear it's the smallest toy they can find and they try to play tug with it. I worry about them pulling each others' lips off.
We shy away from stuffed animals and squeaky toys. But my dogs favorite toys are....a Bully stick hands down...then the everlasting treat ball...and for special "tug" sessions, a Kong Wubba...
Ooops, I should have mentioned another favorite "toy" I don't encourage...My smelly shoe!
Frankies favorite toy is his stuffed zebra Zeeby

He takes it everywhere with him even out to potty.
He sucks on it at night before bedtime

Lisa and Frankie
Baley doesn't care much for any of the toys--once in awhile he will play with his squeaky ball. Baxter on the other hand LOVES is stuffies--he chooses one each day and it is the toy of the day. His moosie and his sheepie get picked most often. If it is the toy of the day--he takes it everywhere, from room to room and even outside to potty. He takes very good care of his toys and doesn't tear them up. At night he likes to suck on them before he goes to sleep.
Sunny's favorite toys are the bane of our existence. Why did we ever buy a squeaky toy in the first place, I'll never know. She sort of chews them, but for the most part she bites them, presses them against our leg and just opens and closes her mouth to make them squeak, very slowly, and very painfully. I think in her own way she's trying to communicate "Hey mom! Play with me. If you don't play with me, I'm going to keep annoying you with this toy." It usually works. :D

Other than that, she loves rawhides. But not wanting her gut to be full of hide all the time, we try to only give them to her on special occasions, like when we have a babysitter over and we don't want them to be subject to the leg squeak routine all night.
Bella's favorite toy is a big squishy ball about 8 inches in diameter that she can bite. It has kind of an open weave outside and is hollow. When an outside strand broke I stuck a tennis ball inside and sealed the opening with a tie wrap. A tennis ball in a bigger ball, she plays withit and wants to play fetch inside with it. We got her one of those $20.00 balls that roll funny and can have treats inside, what a waste. Change a broken toy and save money.
I can't say for sure which toy is Bones's favorite, but I do know that she loves them all so much that she will often pick up one or two toys in her mouth, and pounce at another with her paws. She's currently carrying around a pink mouse who lost his tail during a tug-of-war and rolling a ball with her paws while occasionally stopping to stand/sit on a stuffed gorilla whose size is comparable to her. She also has one of those treat balls with craters all over that she'll roll around when she's bored, but I think she's looking more to have an after meal snack than to play. Socks are a great item for playing "keep away from the person who needs it."

MY favorite toy is our new laser pointer... when she sees the red dot, she drops everything she's doing to chase it. GREAT for wearing out a 5 month old puppy!!
Nelson's favorite toy used to be the very first teddy bear he was given. Sucked on that bear for a long time but we haven't caught him with it for awhile.

His newest favorite toy is our neighbor's Vizsla puppy, Ziva: :rimshot:

These are Chowder's favorite too. I love and she likes the stuff toys too such as the sheep from Petco or those long "loofa" stuffed animals.
Edmond and Scouts favorite toys are the huge stuffed snakes from the Phoenix Zoo. They are about 3 feet long and surprising durable. They love to play tug-of-war with them and run and chase each other. Edmond throws then up int he air and then catches them. Unfortunately you can only get them inside the Zoo so we drive our friend crazy..."hey goin to the Zoo soon?" So they can pick up a couple of Snakes for us.

Side note...the puppies found a small "beanie baby" snake that belonged to our daughter and now that is their favorite toy. Maybe it is genetic :bulb:
We just got Ryleigh a week ago, she is 7 months old and was neglected so she doesn't know how to play with toys yet. So right now her favorite thing to do is wrestle with my 2 labs. Im sure they are hoping she learns to play with toys soon.
billy loves cuz its virtually indistructable for a few months it still squeeked, thats pretty good for a squeeky toy and its still going strong now! he loves a soft toy but at the same time he loves a good game of tug of war with bruno in which they destroy the squeeky toy and play with the smallest bits after.
Murphy likes his crazy critter squirrel. It has no stuffing and can be bought at most stores for $10 or less. Otherwise, it's rawhide or a squeaky ball when he is outside.
Of course, my arm beneath the elbow is nice and chewy, too. :rimshot:
