While travelling back to Idaho from Quebec, my daughter and I, Josie (our papilion) and Gidget(grand dame chihuahua) enjoyed togetherness in our Smart Car (Persephone). Let me tell you we are very used to coming out of stores and finding people gathered around our car...but... We made a quick pit stop at a Walmart to grab some water and food and when we came out (all of 10 minutes later) to find a store employee AND a group standing about 5 feet from our car just transfixed. They explained that someone had reported a car in the lot with it's emergency flashers on. (I'm still unclear why this was in need of attention as it was apparent no one was in the car but the dogs). It seems Ms. Josie had decided that she did NOT like being left in the car with Gidget (she's a shop til you drop kinda gal) and took matters into her own paws and hit the emergency flashers (dumb place to put the flashers in the middle of the dash right under the radio controls). Just last night my older daughter and I decide to go over to see if internet was working across the bridge since ours was down in the RV park.....Josie wanted a ride...so...while we are checking internet....just feet from the car....Josie turns on the flashers again! lol Honestly...do they have to be so smart?!? I can follow her reasoning....if I want mom to come back and get me out of the car....I hit this button....bet she calls it the "retrieve mom" button. I know of a few buttons I'd suggest to those designing cars...but most of them would get me into big trouble! |

Oh my, I must keep Finn from reading this |
Oh that is way too funny and clever!! |
You are fortunate someone didn't break in to rescue the dogs! What the few Smart Cars around here, yes, you would have to have 2 SMALL dogs to go with 2 people for a cross country trip! How clever of the dog to find a way to call Mommy! |
I've come back to a crowd watching Rastus (dalmatian) sitting very regal and upright and leaning back on the back rest of the driver's seat, looking for all the world like he needs a cap, a scarf, some googles and a vintage convertable. But so far no flashing lights. That is just too funny and clever. |
'If I press this button, all kind of people AND Mommy will come out and pay attention to me.' Smart dog! |
You know, they are smart little critters! Our Portage came into the computer room once and didn't get ay attention. He wandered around, stepped on the little red button end of the power bar, both computers went off immediatley, and my husband and I squealed and laughed and told him how clever he was. Boy, we should NOT have done that. He learned that stomping on that funny box always gets attention. Even if the computers don't go off we'd jump up and try to stop him, which was great fun for him. They are way smarter than we even know! |
