You should always shave the dikrection the hair grows. Doing so the opposite will shave it alot closer. |
Generally down works, but I do find I need to go up in some areas. I like to also trim more down for the girl, carefully clearing out the urine trap areas. For the boy, if I get to the empty scrotum, I've gone a bit too far. The penis also gets a wash and a tip trim. The dogs with tails also get a trim along with removing a bit of the hair underneath on the tail. Pyrs have heavy "bloomers" so I also end up scissor trimming her "pants" out of the drop zone. |
I scissors it - with the "butt" the center - so the shortest. Keeps everything nice and neat. Some pictures are in here - viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28718 |

When the hair around the poop-chute gets too long I simply recut the entire fantail. When finished the hair around the anus itself is quite short which is good for hygene but there is plenty of hair left the further out one goes so the dog's shape remains correct. For me and everybody else I know who does this it is a scissors-only job. Clippers on the anus can burn and leave your Bobtail very "distracted". Thanks and Cheers Carl |
