Anyway, as a result of this behavior, she's never been able to run free and I've never socialized her with other dogs. But, despite the fact that I know they don't think like humans, I couldn't bear that guilty look one more time as I took Clyde to the dog park today. So, I leashed her up and my boyfriend and I took her too. And guess what? She did GREAT! I was so worried that she'd be aggressive or just scared but she had the best time. We started her on the leash and then let her loose. Turns out she loves to chase dogs that chase things. I was surprised at her age to see her running so fast too. She loved just running with the other dogs and she never bothered anyone. I was so proud of her. And, if she could smile, she was! It was the first time in the whole time I've had her that I got to see her run free like that. Sappy as it sounds, it made me so happy. I feel so good knowing that I made her day better! I just had to share-- thanks for reading! |

Hi,
Wow thanks for sharing the good news! That's wonderful!! I'm so glad it worked out for you and it helps they mellow with age and may not have all the issues they did in their younger days. Dogs also can pick up that she's a grand dame at her age and would not see her as a threat. It was good to hear about her success and I'm sure so many on here will see there is hope, long as you have the patience and see things long term. You deserve to feel proud as this was a wonderful success story! Marianne and the boys |
