Mr Albert with OESRNSE

I picked up an owner surrender sweetie last Sunday, and oh what a sweetie he is. He can give some of the sweetest "sheepie sugar" ever! He and I made a trip to see my vet this morning and I got some really distressing news. Mr Albert, a six year old sheepie, has heartworms. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We start our heartworm treatment on Monday. He is a little bit underweight, but no other ailments going against him. I will post pics as soon as they are approved.

You'll be in our prayers. So sorry that your new family member has the dreaded heart worm plague. With your love he will have a better chance surviving than being in a shelter. Please keep us updated. Wendy
Virtual hugs and warm thoughts to Mr. Albert. I've heard so many stories about dogs doing so well with heartworm treatment lately. I'm sure he'll be another one to add to that list very soon!
Poor guy! Once those boogers are out of his system, he'll do well. Then you have to worry about other blood diseases........... Hope he gets a clean bill of health quickly.

No, really I do!
Looks super tall - but what a handsome dude!
He is one of the taller fosters that I have had, but still not as tall as Puddy. He only weighs 66 lbs though. He can stand to gain about 8 or 9 lbs I think. First things first. He will make someone a really great addition to their family once we get rid of these heartworms!
Dang he's cute!!

I didn't mean to hurt Murphy's feelings....give him a big hug, please!
Thought I would give a quick update on Mr Albert. He went today or his final heartworm treatment. We re-test next Monday to make sure those darned things are gone. He had lost to 60lbs when he started his treatment 6 weeks ago. He now weighs in at 78 lbs. :clappurple: :clappurple: He could stand to gain 5 or 10 more lbs :cow: and we are working on that.

Thanks everyone, seems your thoughts have helped pull him through. :ghug:
Congratulations Mr. Alberta & foster parents, on defeating the those dreaded parasites. There is a youtube video that shows an operation where the vet removes several large worms from a poor dog's heart. It's very creepy. I'm sure glad that humans aren't afflicted with these nasty nematods!
It's wonderful that Mr. Alberta was lucky enough to be picked by truly caring people, willing to provide the treatment & cover the expenses. Thank you "Betsy" all behalf of all of us OES and animal lovers.
Good news! Mr Albert is very handsome!
Betsy, we're sending positive thoughts for Mr. Albert's full recovery. It seems that veterinary care is the first thing in this economy that people are neglecting. I'm suspecting that Winston Churchill was surrendered for that very reason.

Give Mr. Albert a few huge hugs from us. You guys with OESRNSE really ROCK! :clappurple:
:clappurple: :clappurple: :clappurple:
He is beautiful! All here hoping he is well now
I'm glad he is doing well. Will he be up for adoption?

Yes, he is up for adoption. Well, he will be after his follow up next Monday. Check out our facebook page under Old English Sheepdog Network of the Southeast.
YAY MR ALBERT!

(You remind me of Rudy, and if I could I'd adopt you in a heartbeat!)

Here's to a great forever home for you really soon.
Hello,

Bless your heart for helping Albert. I sent a donation to help with his bills.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the donation Heather. We have had some pretty sick puppers the past few weeks. We greatly appreciate your support.
