Not even a week ago I posted on this site for the first time. We had just gotten our first Sheepie, Bentley, and we were having a heck of a time with the crate training at night. He would literally scream all night!! Thanks to the wonderful advise I recieved from this forum I am happy to report that he now goes into his crate on his own each night and last night he slept right through the night until 5:00 am!! I have got so much great information from this site! So thank you to everyone who responded to my cry for help and all others who post such great information here! On another good note my other dog, a 4 year old Wheaton-Poo, actually played with Bentley this morning!! I knew it would be an adjustment for her, but I am so pleased with how they are getting on. They will become best buds before long, I just know it! I would like to post some pictures but can't figure out how to do that so any tips would be great!

Welcome to the forum!Yes, if your pup wasn't trained with a crate from the begining, thye will fret and fuss when you start putting them in the crate. I found that I put the crate in my bedroom and was lucky enough to be able to put another one in the kitchen/family area. I found that in no time at all, she was going in her crate ( door open) for a nap during the day and ran to it at night. After a while, they look to their crate for peace and quiet and naps.
Sounds like you are doing fine with your pup and older dog. Great news  |
