I wasn't sure if I should post this here in the "antics" section or in the 'behavior" section, as it is actually advice on how to get your OES to stop barking out commands at you. When my Peeps wants something, she lets me (and everyone else) know... and good. If she wants water or food, she'll knock the bowl about loudly. If that doesn't get you to IMMEDIATELY grant her wish, she will bark at you, and she won't stop until it is in front of her as she pleases. Same thing if Peeps wants to go out to play (or just peek her head out the door) - Whatever it is that she wants, she has no bones about making it known. But here's the interesting part. Whenever one of my grand-babies are asleep on the couch, Peeps doesn't make a peep. Also, when my husband and I are asleep (or pretending to be) Peeps simply "checks" us and quietly leaves the room. Well, today, as I was typing at my desk, Peeps decided that she wanted to go outside to check the children - and she wanted to GO NOW! So, in her loudest, most obnoxious and continuous voice, she demanded I arise from my work and do as she proclaimed. Hmmm... I think, I wonder. I lay my head against the bookshelf and closed my eyes (I was going to snore, but I thought that might be pushing it). Peeps let out a few more Woofs, but then she stopped. She walked over and examined me, gave me a little kiss goodnight, and went to lie down herself. Wow! I can't tell you how smart I feel right now. I actually fooled my OES! So, if you're having trouble with your barking dog, just take a quick nap! Hope this helps. |

Yeah, sheepdogs do have a big bark. Jack has to comment on everything and demands his food NOW. I wish, though, they would give me a heads up when I'm asleep, a whine, whimper, even a bark would be better than a pile of something on the carpet in the morning. While we are awake we have to watch them as their signals are silent, "I sure do wish that door was open" as they stare. Mo will come over and body brush me, used to be a body slam and then go back to the stare. Jack just has that longing gaze................."open door." If it is serious he'll go nose the bells on the door knob. Glacier would scratch the heck out of the door if we let her. Harry, "whenever you get around to opening the door is fine." |

What is with that!!!! Tiggy is the same, she barks loudly when she's excited which is often. But when she wants to go out she just stands and stares at the door with a look of intense concentration on her face. Kind of willing it to open. If it doesnt she used to go and pee behind the couch. Now I've taught her to use bells but she wont use them at night. When we're asleep she just leaves a present on the rug. |

It's because she doesn't want to wake you I have to say, Peeps is great in the "doing her business" outside bit. Never has she given me an ounce of trouble or worry. What's really funny is that she won't go out in the morning until everyone is awake and downstairs. If I'm up at 6am, Peeps goes and gets in bed with one of the kids (usually my daughter). One by one as the kids come downstairs (there's four of them) Peeps will finally come down with the last one. hah hahha. After a few proper "good morning" kisses, she'll ask to go out. |
