After months of working with Frankie and his hating to have his ears messed with I can finally pluck very small amounts of hair from them. I'm not able to get very much out, but he just had them plucked at the vet so hopefully I'll be ok. I really don't want to take him to the vet to have it done again. I hate how he acts after he's been sedated. It seems to hit him really hard. He freaks when I pull any kind of ear cleaner bottle out, so I have had to put a little bit of powder on my fingers rub his ears just to get it in there. Baby steps. Lisa and Frankie |

I cant say I blame them. it cant be nice having someone messing about with your ears! Summer will let me pluck a little bit out but not much and only if she is in a soppy mood! One ear seems to get much smellier and hairier than the other! |
I don't clean after plucking. Would seem obvious, but it seems to burn or tickle a bit more. |
After cleaning or plucking, I put a drop of Panalog in their ears. It seems to soothe the area and they like it. I can shake the Panalog box and they will go lay down in the area where I usually work on their ears. I also had an issue with old dark wax spots (tiny, been there forever) on the inner ear flap of Bailey's ears. Shampoo, hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol scrubbing gently - nothing seemed to work. I had a brainstorm today! I rubbed a small amount of Panalog on the dark area and let it sit while I plucked the ear. Then I wiped the ear flap with rubbing alcohol and used a lice/flea comb on it. OMG! It came right off! Minimal effort, no pain. |
