He will eat treats or try to eat stellas brand of food- and he still is active and his stool is OK, but he won't go near his food. I even bought a second bag, thinking maybe there was something wrong with that original batch, but the same reaction. I'm stumped. m |

stretches of warm weather can put them off thier food. not sure if that may be his problem? does your food packaging have a serial number, so you can know that the 2nd bag isn't from the same batch as the 1st one? just a few thoughts - hope he's OK |
Ive just tried giving him stellas food and he is nibbling at it. hmmmmm |
Is he drinking properly? You can give meat broth to keep him going.....serve room temp. Do this for a few days. Then begin adding meat chunks and cooked barley to his broth. If all goes well, slowly bring in the kibble. Apparently he doesn't have a history of picky eating... Could he have injested something that is now stuck? Check his mouth for tooth or gum problems. Any signs of wanting to vomit? Take his temp to see if there's an infection somewhere. Has there been a change in his routine and he's pouting? |
He is still active. He ate a bowl of stella's food (Prescription ID) and has soft stool. He may have swallowed a water bottle cap a couple days ago- I have no proof, but I saw him playing with a bottle that I was sure had a cap on it when I saw it last. UGH No other signs... I should do a vet visit to be sure. |
OK vet visit in 4 hours... have to be sure he's ok. thanks! m |
good luck |
Yes, good luck. Can't imagine a bottle cap would be easy to pass..........hopefully it's not in there |
Hopefully its nothing serious... dogs will occasionally go off their food due to weather etc but I think it may be a bad batch of food (the two bags were probably from the same lot) They can tell a lot sooner than we can if something is wrong with it... |
We have our paws crossed for Atlas. |
Hoping for good news! I always worry about bottle caps. My two love to chew plastic. |
He is doing great. My vet saw no signs of danger and I just changed brands of food. He s happily eating right now. All is good! Thanks for your support.... Oh and 71 lb Atlas thanks you too. 71 lbs! |
73# Chewie says that is just wonderful news! |
Picky, picky, picky. Somebody got tired of the same old, same old. I admit, I do switch food on them everyonce in awhile. But then here food often comes with interesting extras.......a can of mackerel split among the 4 is always a big hit. |
I switch on occassions too. Good news glad it was not a darn Bottle cap. Atlas obviously likes an occassional change. |
Glad to hear all is well. |
I'm Glad all is well |
Good news |
Ditto on the food rotation - the whole gang here gets switched every 3-4 months. |
''well, hell-o there big boy'' has taken on a new meaning glad he is feeling better....panda gets a little picky during the summer...she nosed at her food the other night...i just leave it there and wait for her to finish....i no longer get freaked out that she doesnt eat...if her potty's are normal, i figure she will eat when she is hungry! |
