MY OES IS A YEAR OLD AND WAS SPAYED IN MAY,SHE HAD TO BE DONE AS SHE HAD A WOMB INFECTION,SINCE SHE HAS BEEN SPAYED SHE MAKES A WHISTLING NOISE WHEN SHE HAS BEEN RUNNING AROUND FOR A WHILE,HER MOUTH IS OPEN VERY WIDE AND SHE SEEMS TO BE IN DISTRESS,BUT BEING A OES SHE WILL STILL RUN AROUND LIKE MAD UNLESS I MAKE HER STOP,IT IS VERY BAD, AND I AM WONDERING IF IT COULD BE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE ANESTHIC (SP)TUBE WHEN SHE WAS SPAYED??, HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS,I AM TAKING HER BACK TO VET NEXT WEEK ABOUT IT, THANKS EMMA |

Emma,
Dogs don't sweat, as I'm sure you've probably heard by now: they pant instead. I'm guessing that the extra intake of oxygen and the exposure/condensation of their gums and tongue helps to drop their body temperature. Panting is entirely normal, wheezing isn't. What's her heart rate when she pants? And when she stops? I doubt it has to do with the anesthesia, but I'm not a vet, so don't trust my answer. And if you're going to ask the same vet who administered the anesthesia, don't trust his answer, either. Some vets are real honest and ethical, others aren't. Peace, --Jim-- |
