It been 6 weeks of NO agility because it either rained or my agility servant had other engagements. Well it just not good enough!! What could be there be to do on a Friday night that is more important than agility? And so what if it rains? Agility is fun and should continue rain, hail or shine. Well I got so excited in the car when I realised where we were going tonight that I sounded like a steam engine, all huffing and puffing. I was very well behaved at class, if I do say so myself. I think I’m figuring it out, if I pay attention to my agility servant I get to do more of the fun stuff. I learned the tyre. Its a very weird, I jump through a donut kind of thing but it’s a lot of fun. I stood on the table, then jumped through the tyre and THEN got to do my favourite......The Tunnel. I still haven’t worked out what the straight poles are for really. They keep wanting me to run between them but there is a white bar down low, nearly on the ground. It’s a trip hazard and in my opinion, very dangerous. So I prefer to detour around them and then do whatever comes up next like the table or the tunnel. My agility servant got me to sit right in front of the white bar and then called me so then I had to jump really high to make sure I didn’t trip over. There were other dogs there and I didn’t want to look uncoordinated. The instructor told me that I am very enthusiastic, well doh, of course I am. And she also told my servant that she is not treating me enough. It’s about time someone pointed out that fact. It’s been an issue all along and I’m glad someone has finally had the good sense to tell my servant that she’s stingy. Sheesh, I was snapping the treats right out of her fingers trying to give her the message but she just wouldn’t listen. She’d just yell “ouch” and rub her fingers and forget to give me treats. It really is quite difficult to teach these uprights, but luckily that seems to be what the agility instructor is there for, so hopefully my agility servant will start to learn the proper way to treat an Agility Gerl. Bye all I’ll let you know how it goes. As long as it doesn’t rain. |
