Jumpers was our 1st run, and we were so close. Chewie was so good (and fast). The course was tunnelless - all jumps and one set of weaves. He loves to jump and was doing great. Sadly, one bar got knicked by a rear toe and came down in the middle. Guess I should have trimmed those nails a tad bit shorter! I don't have it videoed on my camera, as my batteries died....but Liz who was taping grabbed another camera and taped it. We all watched the video, and it was just an innocent bar down - not anything specific Chewie or I did - that was good news! Then we were waiting all day for standard - ran at 4pm. Chewie was happy to hang out and hog attention. As the only OES, he got plenty. Our standard run finally came. I was a bit nervous as both our instructors were there to watch! One was the trial secretary and she came out of the office to watch, as apparently she heard his JWW run was close, and she wanted to see how Chewie did in trial vs class. (I have the odd dog who does BETTER in competition - and I have decided it's because I am more focused and give more clear cues for him). The standard run went well - we were short to tall, so had plenty of runs to watch and judge where the problems were. We noticed the previous dogs in all levels were having table issues. The way it was set up, they had too much speed from a loop of jumps and were sliding right off the table. So, I ran him slower and it worked perfect. His weaves really were UGLY - but it worked and we moved on! I think doing just 6 weaves messes with him, and we need to practice them that way more often, not just in 12's. And, he half falls off the teeter when it lands - and the video cam was RIGHT next to it, so it catches it very well.... Graceful...not! It felt like the most incredibly slow run, but I guess it paid off. Accuracy won out. And we were way under course time, so maybe it was just me. This one we did get on my camera! Here is the video link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j2JfAXT7M1o And - this was our 1st standard Q, so one leg down, 2 to go. And, with our 100 point run, we got 1st in our class as well! I am so proud of my boy!!!! We were having our family and friends 4th of July party at home, so he got BBQ - beef, and chicken from the grill! |

Congratulations on your first leg Chewie and Dawn!!!!! The video is wonderful! I don't think Harry has ever been that calm running agility - even at class. |

Even his ungraceful end to the teeter was graceful.....he wasn't phased....he knew he made his contacts. Give the boy a bravo and forget the slight hesitation in the weaves and the slip. |
Congratulations to Chewie and Dawn And you did find "holiday attire" |
WAY TO GO!!! |
Nice! |
Holiday attire - sort of. I went with a more subtle approach. Light aqua blue t-shirt with the USA map outline and a rippling flag filling it in, white knit cropped pants. It worked! |
Congratulations!!! You were both great. |
Congrats Dawn and Chewie, I smiled the whole time watching the video.. |
