Do you remember anytime at all that they had even the smallest negative encounter with that breed or one that resembled it? Once I was waiting to enter a room for conformation handling run-thrus while an obedience class was finishing up in that room. We were all waiting in an out of the area wait area. As the obedience dogs left, one of the black dogs walked past Isaac, took a few steps towards him & lightly growled. Owner had total control of him, I knew both the owner & the dog & we were all shocked because we never expected this out of the black dog. It never got within 4 feet of Isaac but to this day he is wary of ANY black dog. Doesn't matter if it is a lab, a flat-coat, mixed breed or whatever. If it is black, I can feel & see him tense up as if to "be ready". He's 12 years old now & this probably happened back before he was 2 years old! |
Yeah, my Pyrs have always been leary of anything resembling a huskey or GSD. Turns out many in the breed are the same. Thoughts run that they are preprogramed against anything that resembles an wolf or predator. Sounds bunky to me. Many others don't care of OES as there is no tail to communicate and eyes are often hidden.....can't read the body language. |
