I have recently been told about an OES (full-blooded) in northwestern Pennsylvania that is in danger. This dog was abandoned by its owner who vacated a property. The poor dog has been tied outside for three years and has been deplorably neglected. I was told by the person who 'inherited' the dog that the animal looks to be in very bad shape. From what I understand, the dog has probably never had any shots, likely had little socialization, has likely not received adequate food, water or shelter, has probably never received flea/tick/heartworm control and has probably never even had a real bath or grooming. Although I do not know the animal's age, I will assume that it is 3-4 years old. I believe that the dog is probably friendly toward people and other animals, but has obviously never received any training of any kind. Would someone please put me in contact with a person whom I can put in touch with the relative of mine who 'inherited' this dog? I am not in PA. The reason I'm involved is because I am an animal rescuer and am familair with the process. My family in PA has never dealt with such an issue. If it can be avoided at all, I don't want to see this animal placed in a shelter, or put down.
Thank you. |
