Wow! Everyone is getting their puppies around the same time! At least we'll have lots of support for each other!
I can't wait to hear back from you - take lots of pics when you get him! This will be a time to remember! |
definately lots of pictures, omg they grow so fast!!!!
tecumseh seems like he's twice as big as when we brought him home lol he's finally 8 weeks and 12.5 lbs now the night before we picked him up was the LONGEST wait lol |
Welcome home Hercules(I know your Mom is VERY excited!) |
Yay! I hope all goes well with the big day! My Odin is a real handful, he likes to chew everything! x_X |
Pics, pics, pics |
HE'S HOME!!! HE'S HOME!!!!
We picked up Hercules today, and he is even cuter in person!! Our soon to be 2 year old daughter loves him, but is definitely jealous of the attention he's getting. I know it's too soon to tell, but we've had him for over 9 hours with ZERO accidents in the house!! From the moment we saw him, he has attached to me! Everywhere I go, he follows me!! I know that could get annoying later, but right now it makes me very happy!! I can't get over how big he is already! He turned 8 weeks old yesterday. His birthday is January 28th. We've already taken LOTS of pictures of him, so I'll have to get a link set up for you all to see him. Hercules is sleeping right now, so I thought it was a perfect time to update everyone. I'll get busy with the pictures now. |

Aww, he's a cutie. And big! That name certainly does fit him. Shadow: It is pretty cool. I thought it was neat when I saw his birthday since his is the day after my dad's birthday and exactly one month before mine.
I hope Hercules is doing good on his first night! |
Hercules did great thru the night!!
He went potty outside many times yesterday, with no indoor accidents. However, we started videotaping him with the kids, and he went pee-pee on the floor!! It was funny, because I actually got his first accident on camera!! Last night he slept from 11:00 p.m. to 3:48 a.m. with no accidents. I took him out at 3:48 when he woke up. He went potty, and I brought him back in to sleep some more. He then slept until 9:00 this morning! Wow! No accidents again...I took him out as soon as he woke up, and he went outside. One thing I'm a little concerned about....he is extremely quiet. In fact, he has not made one single noise....no whining, no crying, no barking, no grunting...nothing. Is this normal??????? My husband says that our Basset was the same way when we first brought him home at 8 weeks, so maybe I just don't remember how quiet they are at first. I know I shouldn't complain about it, but it worries me that something could be wrong. What do you all think?????? Anyway, I've got to get ready for church now. Happy Easter, everyone!!! |
good job Hercules! You sure are a cute guy. Happy 1st Easter. |
Congratulations! Welcome home Hercules and happy Easter! I wouldn't worry too much about the quiet thing, they get over that after a few days of being in their new home. You are so lucky you had such a great sleep with him around, he sounds fantastic. Just be prepared for all hell to break loose after he starts getting more used to being in his new place, unfortunately I think it's pretty rare for them to stay as good as they are when they first arrive but I could be wrong. My little terror (Spike) was an absolute angel for about the first 48 hours after bringing him home and then became quite the handful once he settled in. I think that's common. Good luck and keep posting pictures, he's precious! |
Odin was quiet on the ride home from the airport and started barking when we played with toys, and grunting when I picked him up to go potty outside, etc when we got home. He does make the cutest sounds. I wouldn't worry either, he's just adjusting to his new home. Happy Easter everybody! |
Okay. Night 2 is over with no problems.
Hercules has now had 3 pee-pee accidents in the house. No poo-poo accidents, and has relieved himself immediately when we take him out. He is doing soooo well. (so far ) He finally barked last night!! He was chasing my son, and barked twice. I think it scared him more than anything!! I need more advice, though. How do I get him to eat without us hand-feeding him??? He will drink his water out of his bowl, but if we don't scoop up the food to feed it to let him eat it out of our hands, he doesn't touch it. Any suggestions?? |

Maybe he's just not hungry when you think it's time for him to eat? I'd suggest keeping the bowl down in his area and I'm sure that when he gets hungry enough he'll eat it himself. I don't think I'd want to start forming a hand-feeding habit at this point or he might get so spoiled he'll expect it and won't eat any other way. I hope that helps. |
Welcome home, Hercules! He's just adorable! And RollrXGirl was right when she said - just give him time to adjust to his new home, and you will see a brand new dog! Have fun, and as always - pics, pics and more pics!
