Has anyone tried probiotics did they help? What were the brands? Thanks! |

I use a probiotic occasionally. When the dogs start to have a softer or looser stool. The one I use is FortiFlora made by Purina. It comes packaged in individual sachets. I sprinkle 1/2 on the morning meal & the other 1/2 on the evening meal. I bought this primarily for my older guy who has always had a sensitive intestinal tract. It worked wonderfully on him. I was able to get away from using meds when he had a problem. Now I keep it on hand for all my dogs incase they need it. You can read about it on their website. |
I also use the purina product. |
I use probiotics everyday in Rudie and Marley's food. I use "Total-Zymes" powder. I started using it because Rudie was having weekly digestive update that include 4-5 bouts of diarrhea in one night. Since we have started (knock on wood) we have had zero problems with diarrhea! I'm not sure if it's 100% the probiotics because we changed some other stuff too, but it seems to be doing a great job. |
At the suggestion of a holistic vet, Fozzie takes the Plant Enzymes and Probiotics powder from Animal Essentials. We swear by it now. I won't go without it again as some of Foz's diarrhea came back in between shipments. He's been on this product for 2+ years. It's a powder that you just sprinkle on top of the food. No flavor..I tried it http://www.animalessentials.com/#products:63 go to the bottom of the page and click on the Plant Enzymes and Priobiotics picture. Hope something helps! |
